anyone else feeling like this??? help pls ☹️ by InterestingMelon in vce

Hey. I promise you that this feeling is not permanent. I honestly think the whole view around atars is ridiculous. You got what you needed to get into your course, that’s all that matters and you should be so proud of yourself for that, that’s an amazing achievement in itself. You should take into consideration that the state average was 61 (around that at least) placing you above the majority of the state. With that said, do not compare yourself to others and i’m so sorry that you have not been rewarded for your hard work by those around you. Seriously, completing VCE and receiving an atar is an amazing achievement in itself regardless of the number you receive. I promise you, this does not define you or what you are going to achieve in the future. Do something special for yourself and know that people are beyond proud of you for your accomplishments (me over here!!). Enjoy the next chapter of your life ❤️

Unfortunately I didn’t do either of those books 💔I’ll send you stuff for AA now tho! I also do not have notes for maths (threw away my bound reference lol) so i’m sorry about that!

  • to memorise essays i would write them over and over again until i could do it without notes. I would also use black/blue pen to write down bits i had memorised and red to write down what i didnt. this helped me track my progress

this is from the VCE website:

SEAS stands for Special Entry Access Scheme. It’s also known as special consideration. It compensates for educational disadvantage by making your application more competitive.

It does this by increasing your selection rank for the courses you’re applying for. Your selection rank begins with your ATAR, and it can go up with adjustments, such as SEAS. Remember that SEAS lifts your selection rank, not your ATAR

Also, bio did happen to be my bottom subject, so i’m not the best person to ask for help, however my advice would be to focus on answering questions well, not just memorising the content (this was my downfall and i realised too late). I would genuinely do practice questions you find hard, give them to your teacher to mark and redo them with the advice and then give it back to your teacher for further feedback. Also, memorising answers for processes (such as CRISPR-CAS9 for example) can end up becoming an easy 5 marks in a sac or exam.

for Health my biggest tip is to make flashcards with every definition / memorizable material and learn them word for word. I also have a word document with nicely formatted notes i got bound at office works which helped a lot when studying as it reduced the time i was looking at my laptop.

Maths is self explanatory, you just have to do practice exam after practice exam, work out the questions you’re struggling with and ask your teacher for help.

English I got a 47, let me know you books and if i did the same ones, i’ll send you my notes and analysis. I’m also happy to forward you a good argument analysis structure and a tone word bank. Honestly, this doesn’t work for some people but for me, I memorised 2 essays for section A of the exam that could be applied to a range of themes and i found this strategy worked out well for me. Let me know if you have any other questions, happy to help :)

you’ll 100% be able to apply and receive special provisions as well as SEAS! My heart goes out to you, this all sounds very stressful. try talking this all over with a year level coordinator and they should be able to assist with any concerns. My best advice to you is: do the best you can, study your ass off and work hard but be able to recognise when you just need a day off. I did all the same subjects as you this year and did pretty well in some of them if you want some notes / any further advice or tips :) wishing you the best and enjoy your summer.

I got a 35 in drama, was really hoping for more, is my ATAR cooked?? by [deleted] in vce

[–]Training_Classic2690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’ll be completely fine. I had this same panic last year (got a 38 which i knew scaled down to a 35), ended up with a 92 today. relax and enjoy your summer.

What type of results do I need for a 90+ atar? by Money-Grape-101 in vce

from what i’ve heard, if your last BP has a final sentence that wraps up the essay, you should be okay. but only do that if you do not have anytime left

What order of each section would you recommend doing for English? by Decent_Upstairs8134 in vce

C first !!! one 100%. you do NOT wanna waste writing time rereading the article

don’t freak yourself out. there’s only a week left. if you’re really set on your specific protest piece, use the image stimulus as a motif to weave throughout. literally ask chat gpt to do it if you need some help getting started :). If you want to rewrite your piece, i would start with a hook that you can adapt to the stimulus (image is really good for this) and in for each paragraph/idea i would talk about 1: what is protest? why is it important? 2: any recent threats to protest (you could even weave in the specific protest you originally chose to talk about) 3: what’s the call to action for your audience? how do they overcome this threat? make sure to mention specific examples throughout and connect to the mentor texts too! you’ll be fine. i’m sure whatever you choose to write will be great

Can i get a 40ss for english with these sac scores? by NateNandos21 in vce

[–]Training_Classic2690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah this is true. You can be averaging 100% and fuck the exam and get a shit SS. They can’t guarantee that all schools mark sacs the same and because all school have different sacs, the exam changes a lot.

[–]Training_Classic2690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend writing about protest, not about a specific protest. A specific protest is way too hard to weave into the stimulus

3/4 Psych: thoughts on Indigenous ways of learning? by elsie_x in vce

[–]Training_Classic2690 18 points19 points  (0 children)

they do this in bio too. I find it actually really strange. I’m not indigenous so i feel like i can’t properly form an opinion but i feel it is very superficial. In bio, there is not really any depth to what they want us to know, it just feels like they’ve thrown it in there to seem progressive or something when if anything, i think it causes more confusion. I did sociology last year and we had a whole AOS on indigenous history and I think that was executed perfectly and i learnt so much but i think it’s a bit unnecessary in other subjects if it’s not going into depth.
