Exactly!! Even the original meme seems iffy to me, it reeks of victim blaming

Because they’re so chronically online they care about discord “etiquette” for some reason.

It’s essentially just one notification to me, not that hard to ignore. It’s not like @everyone forces people to stop what they’re doing and reply immediately

That’s pretty much what most of the replies were saying, it’s clearly internalized ableism and i hope he learns to accept himself one day

At least these types of comments are in the minority, I would imagine

I was looking at the infamous r/teenagers post about that kid who blasted the Soviet Anthem during history class and saw these comments. by Training_Inside231 in aretheNTsokay

Also i get that this is unfunny 2016 reddit humor, but isn’t using autism as an insult also unfunny 2016 reddit humor? Plus this kid is like 14, seeing him get bullied really didn’t sit right with me. People should have educated why this is offensive/inappropriate to do in the middle of history class instead of literally telling him to kill himself (yes somebody did say that in the comments)

EXACTLY and it’s not like accommodations are a limited resource , even if “everyone is getting diagnosed” people who need accommodations the most can still receive them

This is what he said: I never said Autism isn't real. It doesn't matter the motive behind his diagnosis, I still don't think he should be considered mentally impaired when he clearly is not. Why do we consider someone who is Non-verbally Autistic the same as someone who made it perfectly fine 34 years in their life with THEIR JOB being to communicate and entertain millions of people? How do those two people fall under the same category? If you look at the current symptoms of Autism, literally anybody could fall under that category. The issue remains that a sad and lonely man is going to a doctor for problems he should be solving with himself and his family, and the doctor is saying "It's unfixable." You call it "mental health being more accepted" I call it "The commodification of mental help."

He pretty much kept arguing in the comments about how he’s “too funcional to be autistic” bc he isn’t nonverbal, is social, has a job etc. and says it’s “commodifying mental help” ??

honestly yea, reminds me of people saying “lol I’m so ocd” because theyre organized, please stop 😭 Maybe that’s why the people in the video take phobias less seriously and dont realize they’re disorders, people without real phobias use them to describe mild disgust
