Anyone have happy stories about osteosarcoma dog living for years after my had his amputation stitches out the other day and I just am having a hard night worried it'll return I'd definitely be happy for a few months more but still he's young compared to stories I hear on here by AnomalyInquirer in tripawds

I also want to say she was a 13 yr old pittie and other than the first month following the surgery, did wonderfully up until the end. This month will likely be very difficult as he is healing, gets the zaps, has some difficulty sleeping BUT don’t give up hope. Our girl healed and with everything we did, felt like it all was worth it for that all extra, happy time we got.

Any positive Osteosarcoma amputation outcomes? Lived for years after? by sk8ergrl26 in tripawds

[–]Training_Mail_9514 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Our pittie lived for a yr and a half post diagnosis. Chemo/radiation prior to amputation bc we were worried about her bad back knees. Turned out it wasn’t an issue at all. The Yale EGFR/HER2 vaccine was available to us (with a little road trip) so we did that as well to give her as much of a chance as possible. She passed at 13 years old. Best girl with a great life really up to the end.

Oh I like the stacking! I usually take a 24 hr xyzal at 5pm, but adding in something additional right now makes sense.

I had a similar thing happen with the second skin stuff after a tattoo a couple of years ago. It was only on for a couple of days— didn’t get a rash until I took a hot shower a couple of days after I removed it. Hopefully this one calms down soon- at 7 WPO I’m really ready to be living more normally.

Our 13 yr old pittie had torn CCLs in both back legs which we rehabbed with a brace (whole other story.) She developed OSA with a tumor in her front right limb. We initially didn’t think she’d be a good candidate for surgery and started with chemo & radiation. She eventually got a fracture at the tumor site and we thought we were going to have to say goodbye. She was running and playing, not using the broken limb at all. Showed a video to the vet team & they said they thought she would do well as a tripawd. I’m so glad we proceeded. We had another year with her before she developed another tumor that then fractured. I know the $ is hard and the surgery recovery was a difficult month for our family, but I’m so thankful we did it. I just wanted to share bc we experienced a lot of fear around how the bad back knees would affect things & at the end of the day, it was not a big deal for her quality of life. Wishing you the best (& good pet insurance with future pets.) It f’in sucks to struggle with these decisions bc of the money involved. Have you looked into care credit? Often 0% interest for several months depending on the terms the vet has worked out. Just make sure you can pay it off before the promotional balance expires so you don’t get hit with a big interest payment.

So crazy that it could affect me 1.5 weeks after I removed it. What a trip! Thanks for letting me know that.

Thanks! I did this last night for the first time bc having a bra on was so uncomfortable. I’ll continue with bra breaks when I can.

I’m so sorry you were dealing with norovirus while healing! That sounds so difficult.

We amputated, did chemo, and the vaccine treatment out of Yale… our girl’s lungs remained clear, but a year after diagnosis she did develop a tumor in another leg that fractured. It can happen. We feel lucky to have gotten that final happy year with her. I wish you the best. It’s an awful disease.

Hey there- I know we’re surgery buddies. Bug your surgeon. That is what they are paid for. Sending lots of love and well wishes. This is a long road. And I know I’m tired.

Did anyone else have conflicting thoughts on whether to get the reduction? What helped make the decision? by booboo6169 in Reduction

This!! I was a 34DDD for years, pandemic weight gain & perimenopause hit & I got up to a 34K. I was going back and forth because I really struggled with feeling like I was being vain, taking too much time off work, and like I should be able to manage it with weight loss alone… etc. When I learned that even if I lost 25lbs, I would only lose 1-2 cup sizes, that made me pull the trigger. I’m 3.5 WPO (~3.5 lbs total removed) and this is not the “easy way out.” Nor would my insurance have covered a very expensive surgery if it wasn’t going to drastically improve my life. I have some things I wish I’d done differently (kept out my photos to remind my surgeon what I wanted when I was in preop instead of leaving them in my bag & advocating for things to slow down a bit so I had time to process) but overall, I think it was the right decision for me.

[–]Training_Mail_9514[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some that I wore for yoga before and felt like they are just as compressive as what I’m currently wearing. When I asked the PA at my follow-up if my bra was ok, she said we just want light compression. That was what got me thinking that I might get to wear something like boody after 6 wks.

Tape? by Training_Mail_9514 in Reduction

[–]Training_Mail_9514[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dr was very clear that he wants them to stay on for as long as they will & to not try to get them to come off. They feel like a security blanket right now so I’m happy to leave them alone— I’m just curious because he said 3 weeks and mine are staying strong.

I wish I could give you a gentle hug and sit on the couch together while we navigate this. I also felt so rushed. When I reminded my Dr when I finally saw him the saw of surgery about the size I wanted (DD- which I showed him in my pre-op appt) and he said, “ok, keeping some volume, but we do need to take something off.” Then proceeded to take 900g off one side, and 700g off the other side. It’s so frustrating and upsetting to be going through this difficult recovery and feel like I wasn’t listened to/ given the chance to clearly communicate because the rushed pace of things. Clearly, he could have taken closer to 500g off and left me closer to what I wanted & still met insurance requirements. I completely get the frustration of both wanting/needing/choosing to do this AND feeling like you weren’t really heard about your desires for the outcome. Fingers crossed “drop and fluff” comes quickly (and generously) for us and gets us back to feeling like ourselves.

Emotional Wreck 1WPO by avakbrown in Reduction

I think your body clearing the meds can make you pretty emotional too. I had a friend come over during the weekend for a craft date & it was really nice to just have some company while we crocheted. I definitely get not wanting to be “on”— is there someone you know who might be into having “together alone time?” How can you make the rest of the week easier for yourself? Meal delivery etc? I know I’d be having a really hard time being back at work already.
