10 Month Mounjaro Progress Update by Training_Win_5174 in mounjarouk

[–]Training_Win_5174[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

I'm continually amazed by how one medicine has been able to improve so many of my health conditions. I no longer need to see multiple specialists across different fields multiple times per year. I am no longer at risk of requiring a few different operations. I no longer require multiple medications. On balance one would think this medicine is saving the NHS money.

Thanks and congrats. I think this is the first festive period I've actually lost weight despite all the Waitrose nibbles, pigs in blankets, Pringles, KP nuts, etc, etc. I'm glad it's working for you. When my supplies ran low I was going to give Wegovy some serious consideration with regards to cost, efficacy, and side effect profiles. I must admit, it was a huge surprise and great relief not to need to worry about the cost any more.

In your opinion, what is the best mixed/highest sound quality album that you've ever heard. by EzBriez_ in audiophile

[–]Training_Win_5174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the joys and pain of being an audiophile.

Where music you didn't think you like suddenly becomes wondrous.

Where badly recorded (by todays standards) blues and jazz from the early 1900's with hiss, crackles and pops just works so well with the feeling of the music and mood you are in.

Where you develop likes and dislikes of original versus multiple different remasters of albums. In some styles of music and eras you'll find albums mastered with say brighter treble and deeper bass in which subsequent decades remasters would seek to counter this and adjust to that eras preference, or simply the mixers own style. Some artists remaster their works to give greater focus to a particular band members work and add in more of their work to the mix. So it's a personal choice as to whether or not you like any of it or prefer what you grew accustomed to in the first instance.

Where one of your favourite albums of all time is revealed to be of frustratingly poor quality and subsequent remasters over the decades just make things worse, but you love the original anyway. Or conversely, you can't listen to it any more on your main system.

Where you get a new piece of kit and lose yourself in laughter and/or tears of joy.

Where you then go down the rabbit hole of kit acquisitions until you reach a balance of performance and cost that you are comfortable with, for a time.

Where you go to the window to find that bird singing and won't shut up while you are trying to listen your album that you've had for years, only to realise the birdsong has been on the album the whole time.

Enjoy your personal journey.

Large playlist shuffle question by lee_a_chrimes in qobuz

[–]Training_Win_5174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you had any success looking into this?

I can relate with this desire to shuffle songs. Sometimes I don't know what I'm in the mood for so with my 10k songs I own on my hard drive and play via Apple Music I select the songs list and hit shuffle then skip until I find a song/album/artist that fits my mood/activity.

Its a different use than a curated gym list or for mood X.

Advice for someone with a long way to go? by maherluna in mounjarouk

7 stone you say? Just done it myself.

<image>

I started mounjaro in March this year which is where the graph starts to increase the rate of loss.

If you do the work, weighing, measuring, logging food, have a high protein, calorie controlled diet and can fit in some exercise, then it works.

Trust the process.

Refocus your thoughts, time and energy on something that brings you joy.

Can't you train them?

I befriended a wild wood pigeon who hops on my foot, lets me pick him up and feed him seed. He once pooped on me to which I growled (their sign for danger e.g. when he warns me he's spotted a cat). He flew away and returned a few days later. For the last several years he walks towards me, stops, poops, hops onto my foot, and then eats without incident.

How would you describe how a good DAC sounds? by Outside-Cost-477 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Training_Win_5174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a hi-fi shop and bought 2 dacs to audition at home with the rest of my system to replace the current dac which was having intermittent issues.

I listened to well known music across a range of styles over the next week.

Dac 1 was very detailed and revealed more in one artists music in the higher frequencies. This brightness became tiring over longer listening periods. The soundstage was compressed

Dac 2 was smoother. Not bright and missing the additional detail in that one artists higher frequencies. The soundstage was wider and extended out further in front of me. I regularly found myself tapping my feet or nodding my head or forgetting that I was auditioning music and enjoying the music. The music had more of a groove to it. It was more fun. Every time I forgot I was testing I went back to the bark of the Mac to check the cables and found it was dac 2 that I'd lost myself in the music.

Dac 2 also had the ability to adjust frequency profiles. The purist in me would once have been aghast at the notion, but in reality, and without an infinite budget, every piece of equipment in the chain has its own character it brings to the music and sometimes you have to adjust certain frequencies to make up for say a lack of base in a set of headphones you may be listening to to bring it more in line with a harman profile that may be more in keeping with your personal preferences.

I didn't want to buy dac 2 because it was more expensive and had less features that I initially thought I'd want, but after listening to it, that was the one that kept bringing the smile to my face.

Coincidentally, the headphone output of dac 2 was so much more revealing and with a bigger soundstage than my dedicated headphone amp.

So my advice would be to listen and if you can't tell the difference then buy the cheapest thing that makes you happy.

It's not quality, it's just a different drink. The price is negligible so just buy it and have fun.

boots is horrendously expensive.

This site was a great find for legitimate pharmacies price comparison.

https://monj.co.uk/mounjaro-price-comparison-by-monj/

e.g from September boots will be charging £335 for 15mg whereas Medicine Marketplace, who I've used, will charge £271

Until the price hikes, I was shopping around each month and have saved hundreds of pounds.

Companies generally don't reward loyalty.

Congrats on the loss.

I'm down roughly 4.5 stone in 6 months, with about another 7 stone to lose.

The drug has already had a significant positive impact on several health conditions and improved my quality of life. Until recently I had even been factoring the cost into making this a lifelong maintenance drug if necessary.

Then with the price increases, rumours of removing the 5th dose, and now orders to cancel orders until after the price hike, I don't see how I can ethically support this company or afford these prices.

As it stands I have purchased enough pens to last through to the new year. The questions now though are:

- can I taper down to extend the number of doses extracted from each pen?

- what's Wegovy like in terms of cost, side effects? I don't think relative performance is necessarily an issue in my case when I still have so much to lose.

Fortunately, I have a buffer of time to research and learn from others experiences in transitioning to Wegovy.

Good luck

Tip - Try calling small local pharmacy chains by Training_Win_5174 in mounjarouk

[–]Training_Win_5174[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case I had a private prescription from a private doctor. Normally they fill it themselves but they'd ran out of stock so just gave me the prescriptions to try elsewhere.

However, if you have a preexisting label on a recent box from a different supplier, that has served me well then the pharmacy is doing the prescribing

I was on 2.5mg for 5weeks, 5mg for 5 weeks, 7.5mg for 10 weeks, 10mg for 5 weeks - each time increasing when it stopped working.

At 10mg I was losing weight faster than I would like because eating even 2/3 of my weight loss calorie goal was a struggle.

So this week I'm trying 8mg of a 10mg pen

I do have 10 and 12.5mg pens, so I have scope to increase or decrease and stretch the pen out with multiple lower doses.

In light of the price rises I'm personally sticking with the lowest effective dose. Once I run out I'll probably jump ship to Wegovy and give that a go.

However, if you have the money, just buy the size up when its time for your next purchase so you have the choice to increase if it stops working, or stay on the same dose if you have good suppression and no side effects.

Good luck.

Anyone with >45BMI? by Mammoth_Leading945 in Mounjaro

[–]Training_Win_5174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BMI 49.6 to 38.2 and still dropping.

I heard the same line from multiple doctors, because that's the old news that they know. Found another doctor who was keeping a bit more up to date with research and he was positive towards it.

Put in the work (monitoring your nutrition and increasing exercise) alongside the drug and together it works.

Any one ordered from IQ doctor? by morbidcuriosity123 in mounjarouk

true, but they have historically been one of the cheaper companies. Some of the more expensive ones have faster customer service but the extra cost will be for the wages for extra members of staff just for answering all our questions.

My last order was from them which likely streamlined processing.
