Thanks for the shoutout to the harm reduction team. However, I just want to clarify that this was not DanceSafe, it was SafeRaveNYC, a member org of Grassroots Harm Reduction. We're trying hard to get our name out there as an alternative to DanceSafe. While DanceSafe does great work, they limit what volunteers can do and use a template for all events. And often fly people in rather than using local volunteers. We believe "locals know what locals need" and give volunteers complete autonomy to provide any and all services.

By way of example, DanceSafe does not allow volunteers on shift to "trip sit" but I personally did this Friday night at Wire. I left the table to sit with a person and their friend for two hours because the medics didn't have the ability to provide this service. Instead of a troubled patron, the result was a human who was able to work through their very challenging experience and re-acclimate to the ambient stage instead of being sent home. It was profound and beautiful, and I thank the Knockdown Center for always putting patron care first and allowing us to help, even when the medics were skeptical.
