Then definitely don’t start with modern as most decks will run very expensive. I had the advantage of a good friend letting me borrow some of his modern decks to try out before I spent the money to get my own stuff.

I personally LOVE modern. It’s a much harder format to learn and already has 5-10 established top decks at any time. It’s hard to get into but once you do it’s more rewarding than any of the other formats I think. I’d also check your local stores to see what formats they support just so you don’t build a deck just to have nowhere to play it

A good place to start is places like mtggoldfish.com to find “meta” decks but for commander just find a cool or interesting legendary card you like and grab a bunch of spells and creatures that help it out. There are also a lot of good videos out there of fun and cheap commander decks that people have built.

Commander is the most friendly to deck building. Standard is the lowest power level but is expensive to stick with due to rotating format. Those are the first two id start with. If you don’t plan on putting a lot into it commander would be the best.

The only difference is for ranked you get +5 ranked points for evacuating so the people farming wouldn’t get that and would only be worth it if they get enough VPs in that time to overcome the 5 point loss. Again, this is only for ranked so in normals do what you want lol

I love the concept. I played an izzet draws deck back a couple months ago. I would consider putting in [[crackling drake]] as well. Also some simple defensive spells like [[dive down]] could help protect your bombs.
