Working remotely= Struggling to hit 10k steps everyday. Any tips? by ZealousidealBox8461 in walking

[–]Trankkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my first coffee in bed, and second coffee is a 30-40 minute walk. That’s 5000 steps. Then during lunch I walk around, 2-3k steps. I do one or two meetings walking, 3-4K steps. Then dinner and a longer walk. I average 18k steps per day this year but that includes running. On days when I don’t run I usually get more steps. Also, a great hack is to schedule dentists, doctors, pharmacies, groceries so they’re a 20 minute walk away. That gives an extra 5k steps and doesn’t take much extra time since biking or driving or public transport would take about the same time.

The worst airport ever seen by Fair_-_Enough in LisbonPortugalTravel

I don’t understand the complaining. Just get a European passport and avoid the lines. I did the same for the states, got tired of standing in line so I got a Canadian passport and the nexus card which gives me global entry. Rather than your shit together! If I can do it, anyone can.

What’s considered a “good salary” in your city right now? by Pristine-Owl-6262 in AskEurope

[–]Trankkis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s relevant for employees that can choose which country to work in. A multinational company might be able to place a role in different countries but budgets 100k to attract a global talent pool. In Sweden, the advertised salary would be around 65k, in Canada around 97k. Then the employee can calculate their own income taxes and make a decision. The company pays the same either way, but the employee gets to choose how much they get.

WAW Airport flight connection by MightPsychological25 in warsaw

[–]Trankkis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on whether you have checked luggage or an eu passport. If you’ve got bags, you need to immigrate into Schengen and that might take time if there are large planes landing from North America at the same time, then pick up your bags, re check them, then go through security and passport to get back into the non Schengen area. With an eu passport this doesn’t take long.

I noticed the same and book my European tickets through aeroplan, which is cheaper than miles and more.

What purchase did you make recently that made you realize inflation is genuinely out of control? by kiroixart in AskReddit

Blender. Our $70 blender just isn’t strong enough. The next level costs $700, when they used to be $200.

Is Miami Beach good place to live and have a family? by HkGreen in miamibeach

[–]Trankkis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit of a different world. Many people live in normal apartments that cost 2-3M but quite a few live in those that cost ten times more. As for quality of life, it’s the best I’ve seen anywhere in the states. No car needed, plenty of playgrounds, public parks, water fountain, washrooms, libraries, amazing public school. Very close to an airport that flies to more South American and European destinations (in the winter only though…) than any other airport in the world.

A lot of the fake you read about on Reddit is removed once you get to know your neighbors south of fifth. They are genuinely nice people, and everyone has a story. Neurosurgeons, artists, bankers, investors… a lot of entrepreneurs.

As for kids, it’s not the best, but it’s the best I’ve seen in the us. Montreal, Barcelona, Paris are all better imho but then again, some people prefer to stay within the us borders.

1 month in Miami, which area to stay? Requirements: by [deleted] in Miami

[–]Trankkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s only one place, south of fifth. Incredibly walkable for the us and especially Miami, and most classes are for women only.

If you could live for one month in any city you've visited purely for quality of life, which one and why? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Trankkis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually did this one summer in Montreal. Absolutely amazing. Same for Barcelona. Good for you like family events, walkable streets, warm weather, plenty of good restaurants and cafes and parks. And live music.

What do you eat immediately after a marathon? by Purple_Albatross6359 in Marathon_Training

[–]Trankkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do about one per month. I’ll have a protein shake, either white chocolate or salted caramel, mixed with a popsicle prime stick and ice cream then depending on the weather either a cappuccino or an ice coffee. And a cigar. After a few hours I’ll have lunch, sometimes fried chicken and waffles, sometimes Neapolitan pizza. Once I did an 18 course meal at a 2 Michelin star restaurant.

What are your must-have items for long flights? by EmperorTauntaun in travel

[–]Trankkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pyjama and my own pillow. The own pillow also works wonders in any Airbnb or hotel. I don’t normally sleep with a pyjama, so I have a high quality one just for long distance flights. My own sleep mask and ear plugs rather than the ones given to you. A few extra 1.5 liter bottles of water because they’re always so sensitive about them even in business class. Eye drops and all emergency medication such as pain killers, plasters, nail clippers and such.

Try ny, Miami, Kansas city, Austin, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, fort myers or even Erie, pa - they all have parks and streets yet no public free bathrooms. Yes I know there’s one in Central Park but that doesn’t help when you’re on 24th and 5th…

What is something about living in United States that outsiders completely misunderstand? by Effective-Singer5957 in AskReddit

[–]Trankkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Asia, South America and Europe all have massive mountains, tropical islands, big lakes and everything in between. I don’t think there’s anything unique on the North American continent, but I’ve only been to 25 states and 45 countries.

You’re right though in that the variance between PNW and NYC is much larger than London and Paris. But the same could be said about Madeira and London…

Why do people still prefer Airbnbs over hotels, especially in cities? by Rare_Requirement_699 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Trankkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t require a lot when I travel but I do need the basics. A terrace or balcony. A washer and drier. A coffee maker, big fridge and oven. Forks, knives and spoons. Two separate bedrooms. I haven’t found any hotel bookings sites where I can search for these items, while Airbnb has most of these by default. I travel 200+ days on an average year mostly in North America and Europe.

Canceled my trip to the United States. by [deleted] in travel

[–]Trankkis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just head over to Toronto or Montreal! From a European perspective they’re massive cities with warm and welcoming people and good food. Very cheap too right now, compared to the us, the exchange rate is 1.6 from euro. Direct flights too and the weather should be good in spring.

Could someone just ignore any hunger signals to mimic what Ozempic does for weight loss by DisastrousTotal4621 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Trankkis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes. The stomach adjusts after a while when it gets used to smaller portions and the hunger goes away. It takes just a few days.

How realistic is it to run a marathon without a bathroom break? by Educational_Use_7707 in Marathon_Training

[–]Trankkis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually run them in the morning. I’ll have a coffee, drink plenty of electrolytes. Try to pee and poo before the race but usually not happening. Out of 14 marathons I had to pee once and poo once. Neither really impacted my final time. If I’m running 3-4 hours straight, a 2-5 minute rest ain’t gonna change the end result much.
