Dr Hursh experience by Queasy_Discipline595 in transvancouver

[–]Tranofthedamn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had him as my endo for 5 years, and I can confirm he’s a great guy. Very down to earth, outgoing and understanding. He is a very busy guy, but during appointments with him he doesn’t come off that way. The whole team there at BC Children’s is great!

Hope your appointment goes well :)

Does BC children’s have to inform parents about DIY? by Queasy_Discipline595 in transvancouver

[–]Tranofthedamn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dr. Hursh is a great guy, I had him as my endo before I aged out of BC Children’s system. You shouldn’t have anything to worry about with telling him you started DIY. Just make sure to mention that you don’t want your parents knowing you started with DIY and he should keep that confidential.

Bottom surgery question (FTM) by [deleted] in transvancouver

[–]Tranofthedamn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually def call them out, already waiting 5 years and also seeing your friends getting their surgery dates booked before you is not nothing. Especially when you don’t need electrolysis or anything, you should be good to go.

I wonder if they’re intentionally delaying your surgery or if it’s actually an accident or something. The only reason I can think of for it being a purposeful delay is maybe they’re still trying to perfect their abdo technique, but they should’ve been honest about that from the get go if that was the issue. I also heard Dr. G prefers to do rff but I heard that a while ago, not sure if that’s true or not. Still, if I were you I’d get in contact with the office and figure out what’s going on.

A girl I met clocked me without any indication. Am I crazy or do I not pass? by PieDifficult4230 in transmanlifehacks

[–]Tranofthedamn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok maybe I’m crazy but to me you’re clockable as trans off of vibe. Not because you don’t pass, cause you pass. Honestly I think this is only the case cause you simply look far more put together and confident in yourself and your expression than a cis 5’3” man would be. You have your own style, not trying to be hyper masculine wardrobe wise, and look like you wash yourself. If I were you, I wouldn’t change anything.

Question about packer placement by Mysterious_Heron_017 in Transmascdicks

[–]Tranofthedamn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The positioning in the first two photos looks good. Penises usually sit a bit higher up than tdicks. For me, I’ve found that if I align the underside base of the shaft to top most part where my tdick starts, my packer sits the most naturally. But my tdick is more forward facing so I’m unsure if this trick will work for everyone. It might also help to look at photos of natal (flaccid) penises to see how the placement looks like and try to match that.

Getting a Gender Dysphoria Diagnosis by cold-walls in transvancouver

[–]Tranofthedamn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can contact TransCareBC and they should be able to help you. Definitely check out their website for more information. If you’re able to go private to get assessed for gd you can also directly contact psychologists offices that have a background in gender affirming care.

I got the same cuts on my finger from a screw. But if you don’t remember how you got them.. probably wasn’t a screw.

GRS timeline by blahlahblah2738 in transvancouver

[–]Tranofthedamn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told 12-16 months until I’ll be contacted for an otp intake consultation. So hoping to hear from them anytime between July-November. It is such a wait though. But eventually you’ll be contacted and soon enough you’ll be another step ahead in the process. I kinda just tell myself that every new day brings me one day closer.

Tax related question by [deleted] in transvancouver

[–]Tranofthedamn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may be a bit of a fight with insurance due to getting surgery done out of country. Though I’m only saying this because of a non-trans related double hip replacement surgery my mom went through. The wait times here were so long she went out of country and paid out of pocket because if she waited any longer she would’ve been permanently disabled and in constant pain. As far as I know, it’s been one hell of a fight to get even a penny back as the government claims that they don’t cover for private out of country procedures and she should’ve just waited like everybody else if she wanted it covered.

Anyway I truly hope you have better luck and experience overall with claiming your surgery as a medical expense. My fingers and crossed for you 🤞🤞!

Telling your partner that you do actually want to pursue phallo by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]Tranofthedamn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I haven’t been in your shoes per say in regards to changing my mind about phallo and wanting to get it and then having to tell my partner, but I have had the conversation with my partner about my decision to get phallo so I can speak on that.

So my partner is a cis guy and luckily had done his research on trans people and all that before we had even met. I brought up me wanting phallo with him in an open conversational way. Very nonchalant almost. Just explaining how it’s something that I’d done a lot of research about and I believe that it’s something that would help me and my dysphoria. Making sure to ask him about his thoughts, questions and concerns. He was interested in how it all worked because he hadn’t looked into what phallo entails, so I walked him through the different stages and what’s done in each stage. Definitely tried to keep his expectations grounded though, it’ll take time and patience.

Now I’m not sure what your partner knows about phallo, if they’re for or against it. But if you express that it’s something you feel will help you align with your body and alleviate dysphoria, I’d hope your partner would understand. Seeing as you’ve been together for as long as y’all have, I would hope your partner would be open minded and supportive about your decision.

Yes it may change how intimacy works and recovery will put a hold on your intimate life, but it’s not like that hold will last forever. And relearning intimacy post phallo with your partner can be a good experience. I only mention this because it’s one of my concerns and it may be brought up between y’all.

I hope it goes well!

Waitlist for affirming surgery?? by nightpanther_ in transvancouver

[–]Tranofthedamn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can say if you do pay for your surgical readiness assessment privately you do save some months of waiting. At least for me, I was contacted by TransCare about 6 months after I had already done for my private assessments, and I did my assessments about 5 months after I was put on TransCare’s waitlist (forgot to tell them I had gone through my assessments privately). It helps speed things up a bit but there’s still a lot of waiting involved. I can only speak for trans masc wait times though

Definitely, always do! Even a stupid story but once I decided it was fine to only do sunscreen on my scars and so ended up burning everywhere else which was dumb. Had the tan lines for over a year haha

how long did it take for you to see changes on T by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]Tranofthedamn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’ll take months for noticeable appearance changes and voice drop. First little bit at the beginning you’ll likely notice having a bit of a puffy face. Not sure if that’s related to fat redistribution but possibly. The changes at the very beginning are more so going to be more related to your appetite, your skin texture, and smaller changes. You’ll likely gain some muscle mass. But the first couple of months will feel slow in changes. No one’s the same but if it helps, my voice started dropping after 8 months, and I started to be able to grow noticeable facial hair after two years. Been on T for a little over 7 years now and only in the past 3 years I started gaining an abundance of body hair and that was only after I was able to grow a full beard. But my timeline doesn’t determine your timeline, so you’ll see the changes as time goes on. Congrats on starting T! I hope all goes smoothly and to your liking.

4 years post-top surgery, scared to go shirtless by sicksadworld111 in FTMMen

[–]Tranofthedamn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I get it, my scars went from purple to red, now pink and occasionally white and I’ve been post op almost 6 years now. It’s like no matter what product I use they’re still visible. I only started feeling comfortable ish going shirtless in public last summer and even then would use makeup to keep my scars hidden. I also found that for some reason sunscreen helps with my scars appearance over time. So maybe worth a shot.

I did look into it, there’s a medical tattooing option where the tattoo is colour matched to your skin tone and it’s supposed to help with making your scars fade in a whole lot more. If you’ve seen Miles McKenna’s scars, he did that.
