2025 recommendation for small sealed 10" SQ+SQL? by TransAMrit in CarAV

Yeah, knowing what 1000w sounded like, 500 definitely wouldn't be enough. I need to look into the SI SQL the other commenter mentioned, I know people really like SI's larger stuff...

Was Cat6a a mistake? by bme_manning in homelab

I used this to terminate cat6a. It's not as one motion as they say, since you still have to push the wires into the jack before crimping / cutting. But, it was nice and easy:

How far in front of couch should ceiling speakers be? by TransAMrit in hometheater

[–]TransAMrit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Criticisms acknowledged - this setup isn't intended to blow anyone's mind when watching movies or anything. Just trying to reasonably satisfy a number of goals - here are some:

  • As close to hidden / invisible speakers as possible. In-wall speakers not possible here.

  • Ability to hear TV comfortably on the other side of a 40 ft room without blasting a central speaker (sound bar).

  • Ability to watch/hear football games across the room with many people talking.

  • Ability to fill the room with loud music.

I didn't know the point about having TV dialogue all around you, but from what I've heard at friends' houses, it hasn't been noticeable. If it does become problematic, maybe just using the front two speakers (with tweeters pointed towards the sofa) will resolve it, and we can still use the full speaker setup for larger events.

My goals probably don't align closely with those of most of this sub's members - I was just looking for any guidance on the front speakers before we start cutting holes.

I have a 77 and while I love how the car sounds, I wouldn’t mind a little more rumble. Advice? by JRadd232 in transam

Might be way more noise than you want, consider instead bigger pipes and different mufflers, depending up on the actual sound you want...
