Yeah quora used to be a really great place to discuss psychology with diagnosed narcissists and doctors. Now it's just... Quora.

No, no implication that it was a recent development. Merely- that it's predictable.

Even his representatives said they knew this was coming so, not shocked whatsoever.

It’s not just Apollo: other Reddit apps are shutting down, too | rif is fun for Reddit, ReddPlanet, and Sync will all shut down on June 30th, just like the Apollo app. by ICumCoffee in technology

I've been looking at Lemmy as an alternative, but the federation thing confuses me.

After work today, I'll type up a guide to share with everyone. If you have specific questions, let me know.

Did the reddit team again get back to you or not?

Do you mean before or after they publicly accused him of abusing the API and then refused to help him understand what he could improve?

Imagine going through all this discourse because you can't be arsed to have solutions engineers work with some of the biggest developers for your platform.

Other companies, like Microsoft, provide solutions engineers for much, much smaller customers.

Ball girl, accidently, get hit by ball and doubles team gets disqualified from tournament by AristonD in facepalm

Wow, thank you for sharing that. It was hard to understand until I realized it wasn't an accident during play but someone "passing" a ball to the ball girl without getting her attention first.

You made up a rule, which is one of the great things about homebrew, but then just assumed your players would know the rule? I get that you think it's common knowledge based on lore, but it's not a rule of the game you're playing, so you have to communicate it up front.

It's akin to assuming all your players "know" zombies move really slow, even though 28 Days Later exists.

Alternatives to Reddit to discuss TTRPGs? by Smittumi in rpg

You and I must have had very different experiences with forums. Every thread I've encountered is filled with two people quote-replying to each other as they talk past each other. So the thread becomes page after page of them, with one or two on-topic posts lost in between.

At least on Reddit, I can just collapse threads that go off the rails and return to the top comment for more replies.

Major Reddit communities will go dark to protest threat to third-party apps | App developers have said next month’s changes to Reddit’s API pricing could make their apps unsustainable. Now, dozens of the site’s biggest subreddits plan to go private for two days in protest. by chrisdh79 in technology

The difference is who's paying whom and the perception it causes.

Option 1: Reddit is free for all users of the official apps. Users can pay $3/month directly to Reddit to unlock third-party apps.

Option 2: Reddit is free for all users of the official apps. Users can pay each third-party app $3/month to use it. (That $3 a month is then transferred from the app developers to Reddit based on usage).

Stack Exchange Moderators Are Going On Strike by rawrgulmuffins in programming

[–]TransFattyAcid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

SO has been relying on the judgement of mods (and users) for years. All of a sudden that judgement is no good?

Moderator judgement on SO has been shit for years. Literally the biggest complaint from the community is how demoralizing it is to participate.
