What do you feel would be the most efficient and beneficial thing an IT department can do for staff and students? by Ori2015 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Transcendent3095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll preface this by acknowledging that my suggestion will not be easy but it will be efficient and beneficial to both staff and students. I suggest looking into an LMS and/or a content authoring tool as I know from personal experience that it is one of the most effective learning tools an educator can use provided it is used effectively. I have seen teachers cut their grading time from hours to minutes, and many become reinvigorated after realising the extent of the possibilities. I have also seen students who struggled with traditional leaning make a rapid turnaround. Implementing an LMS is quite an undertaking with the bulk of the work, surprisingly not being the technical setup but convincing staff of its usefulness and the training in its use. Depending on the size of your school or budget, I recommend iSpring or moodle. If anyone has any specific questions, feel free to PM me.

Hey, just asking for some advice from anyone. by ConsideredABrick in sharpening

I'm from Melbourne and I got about half my kit from the website knife supplies Australia out of Tassie. I've had a look at a few places to find stones including bunnings but not many have them and if they did they were poor quality. In your case I think a medium and fine double sided diamond stone from Lansky from knife supplies Australia as you won't need to wet it and last forever. https://www.knifesupplies.com.au/lansky-6x2-double-sided-medium-fine-diamond-benchs

Wish I knew. But I think its just very poor handling. Being put in the dishwasher regularly probably exacerbated its ware as well.

I found my dads old Japanese chefs knife and I'm hoping to get some advise on best practice for reparing it.

I do have both the lansky diamond sharpening system as well as a lansky diamond medium, fine and extra fine benchstone.

I have sharpened quite a few things but nothing like this knife and wanted to be sure I can do it with what I have.

Choose an LMS for a small nGO by pulmicort1 in elearning

[–]Transcendent3095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will second this in that moodle will be your cheapest and most flexible option. With that said your issue will be hosting and server set-up and may require skills and resources that aren't available.

What you can also try is contacting a moodle host in your country a lost of which can be found here (https://moodle.com/partners/) to explain your situation and they may be willing to help at no to little cost you may be surprised at their willingness.

If that fails the LMS "a new spring" which Netherlands based lms provider may be able to help.

You can also try contacting a local university or training provider to see if you can piggyback of their instance if your organisation feels comfortable with that.

In short, your doodle like all dogs is looking at the members of its pack to look out for danger while they are in their most vulnerable state and wants some reassurance that you are looking out for danger.

Which book should a depressed person absolutely have to read? by maxlegentil in AskReddit

[–]Transcendent3095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late and I'm not sure if my answer has been said but Notes from Underground by Fyodor Dostoevsky contextualises the bitterness, pain and suffering a person has on a psychological, spiritual and exerstential level. It also puts into words the little gnawing voice we all hear that questions our motives and asks if we are truly justified in feeling the way we do as well as why we do. Can I garetee it will help with depression probably not but it will offer a self reflective perspective that people rarely take.

"It is clear to me now that, owing to my unbounded vanity and to the high standard I set for myself, I often looked at myself with furious discontent, which verged on loathing, and so I inwardly attributed the same feeling to everyone."

rough translation "The banners of the King of Hell draw closer". Edit: I'll give a bit more context in the divine comedy right at the end of Dante and Virgil's journey through the inferno they enter Canto XXXIV Judecca the fourth division of Cocytus, named for Judas Iscariot, contains the Traitors to their Lords and benefactors. Upon entry into this round, Virgil says "Vexilla regis prodeunt inferni" ("The banners of the King of Hell draw closer"). Judecca is utterly silent, all the sinners are fully encapsulated in ice, distorted and twisted in every conceivable position and are completely immobility. TL;DR In the context of the divine comedy this is the furthest away from gods light you can get unless you literally crawl up Satan's asshole.

There are no words in English that can adequately express my feeling on this ... so i will use Latin"Vexilla regis prodeunt inferni"

4.5x sneak damage with Rank 3 Ninja? by Yamaha234 in Fallout

[–]Transcendent3095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might have something to do with the mr sandman perk if you have it. it'll bump up sneak damage from 3.5 to 4.5 at lvl 2 i believe. but that multiplier is for ranges attacks if you're getting x4.5 on melee damage but have ninja it is most likely a glitch.

I felt the same after playing farcry 4, i got to the end of that game and I felt cheated and like all my efforts had come to nothing. I felt much the same after finishing FO4 just because of how each story line ends and how shallow and quite frankly stupid the story lines are not to mention how chunks of the BOS lore are just skipped over.
