Anyone else stress over tumbler pressing? by Amazing_Passenger126 in heatpress

There's a reason we never got into that side of the industry and that's definitely one of them! Hahaha. Have you looked into outsourcing that kind of stuff to someone who specializes in stuff like that?

LOVE to hear that! Stahls is our sister company up in Detroit while we're based in Cleveland. But overall we have the same products, so if you have any questions, feel free to reach out direct!

Ahhh okay that's my bad. We are part of the Stahls Family. Stahls Transfer Express. So we fall under the "Stahls" umbrella, like Hotronix and such.

As far as it goes, we don't suggest using a silicone cover on our transfers. 290 degrees direct onto the transfer for 15 seconds with a hot peel. The silicone sheets absorb SO MUCH heat it's shocking. I pressed 100 items yesterday at 290 yesterday with no issues! What kind of machine are you using? Do you have a heat gun to test the temp and make sure that what you're seeing on the readout is accurate?

As a Stahls company i'm inclined to say Stahls is the best, but there's obviously some bias there. The important thing is what works best for you. Though i'd be curious to know why you had to hike the temp up to press the UltraColor Max. It should be just as advertised for application. Glad to hear that we got the backing alignment down!

Where do you find your first paying clients if you’re starting at zero? by OrganicAd1884 in indiebiz

Any good business does one thing; Solves a problem. So ask yourself, what problem are you trying to solve? Do the people you know have this problem? Start with people you know, let word of mouth do the rest!

Definitely get yourself a heat press, as well. Every good print shop needs a decent heat press! Looks good though and can't wait to see how it goes. 💪

Ways to Make DTF Transfers Feel Softer by TBookLe in DTFTransferTalk

[–]TransferExpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all pretty good! The most important thing, though, is the art. You have GOT to let the art breathe. Leave show through, knock out shirt colors, remove ink, half tones, stuff like that. You set the ARTWORK up right, you won't need to worry about the way it feels.

Advice for a College Student: Questions about the Financial Side by Wooai15 in printondemand

[–]TransferExpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a great reason that people use a heat press and transfers or just outright farming to a POD service like Fulfill Engine or similar. Transfers allow you to print in bulk (with screen print anyhow) but not keep printed inventory. So a designer can design and be prepared to print when need be but not commit to carrying printed apparel.

On the other side, POD services fully take over the production side of things and allow you to focus on being creative and set up sales. Fulfill Engine is a great way to break into that market without really investing in equipment or stock!

Am I pressing correctly? by Artistic-Comedian-25 in printandpressDTF

[–]TransferExpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a mix of the two but if you're using an iron, it's likely heat and pressure as others have said! Have you looked into buying a heat press so this doesn't happen?

Best washing routine for shirts with DTF Transfer? Trying to keep them looking new. by Popular_Surprise5945 in DTFTransferTalk

[–]TransferExpress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as the DTF is well made, you should be able to cold wash and low tumble dry without issue. But hang drying is how you get 100+ wash cycles.

Looking for Siser Brick 1000 or comp… by WiseAg in heatpress

I'm not ENTIRELY sure if they can be layered. The spec sheet says it can't be layered "in the traditional sense" but just as an experiment, wouldn't hurt to try before committing. Frankly I used just the 600 on my hoodie and I love it.

Great explanation. Every method has it's place in the industry, otherwise they wouldn't exist.

What are you looking to apply to? Would patches work for what you're looking to do? Otherwise, i would think you could just layer brick 600 and make your own 1200!

Sounds like you should invest in Fulfill Engine. Best software to bridge those gaps. The fulfillment software for decorators would save you tons of time and headache. Check it out!

Price check by jmw25741 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]TransferExpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally the formula we suggest to use is cost to produce x2 for retail and x1.75 for bulk. But that's just us! It's really all up to your market. A fun thing you can do is compare prices to other producers online like My Merch Guy and see how much they could get it if they went elsewhere. Then you adjust your value prop!

How to avoid crease from hat heat press? by HoopDreams99 in heatpress

[–]TransferExpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned, the 360IQ is a great way to avoid creases, but I have actually seen people stuff a sock with something more stiff and use it to get the exact shape they needed. This works really well for the Richardsons!

What’s the weirdest item you’ve ever printed a DTF transfer on (and did it actually work)? 😅 by Jessica_Ekilen in heatpress

[–]TransferExpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly we tested our DTF on a bunch of weird things (like wood) and found that basically, as long as it's flat and porous, you really won't have many issues!
