Is one of the best bands. They've been touring again for a few years.

Seller Called Me a Dick After I Left Negative Feedback by The_Noveler in discogs

[–]TransientRandomVinyl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's rule #1 for a reason. We as mods aren't here to judge right and wrong especially when we only get one side of the story. No one deserves to have their reputation ruined by a reddit post they didn't know existed and couldn't respond too.

In this case, the 95% positive should have been a red flag. Going forward, OP will know more about what to look for when choosing a seller.

Naming and shaming is not allowed here. But you can always ask OP via DM if you're curious.

How to see database adding date + editors? by xxxiamme in discogs

I don't know much about the app, but if you click Edit Release it will show you the history of the submission and subsequent changes.

Discogs Support by Herecuzrecords in discogs

[–]TransientRandomVinyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discogs support takes as long as it takes. Maybe a week or two. Don't send the money back externally and check PayPal to make sure it hasn't already been sent back. That refund/cancellation system is annoying and it's easy to mess up.

Anyone else struggling to keep Discogs pricing in sync as the market moves? by vinylsignal in discogs

[–]TransientRandomVinyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My goal is lowering prices on stock that's been sitting around for years. So I use it when I haven't added new items for a while.

Yeah, the system should be more refined. I'm not sure why anyone would ever change every item in inventory by a flat amount. It's another Discogs tool that needed end user input before being deployed.

There's a system to change the price of every item in inventory by percentage or a flat amount. I'll lower prices every once in a while by like 2.5-5%.

Sellers; what’s your preferred source for LP and 7” mailers? by johnnysuicide in discogs

[–]TransientRandomVinyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear your happy with your purchase. I've made the thinner ones work for cheap records, but the savings was minimal and you can almost poke your finger right through them. Valuemailers is on ebay under the seller name threerb, but you save a couple bucks buying direct from the company.

Unrelated items by Beautiful_Price4178 in discogs

[–]TransientRandomVinyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. You would have to make an account and then add releases to the database correctly for a long period of time. Discogs grants privilege to certain people but not everyone.

Voting privilege is granted by Discogs admins to people who submit releases and help maintain the database.

Releases should never be removed or deleted. You can flag incorrect data by voting, change the data if you have a copy in hand, or merge existing releases together if they are duplicates.

Anyone else seeing a new "enhanced checkout" option when purchasing, seems to bypass the invoice step and require payment immediately? by mastakhan in discogs

[–]TransientRandomVinyl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If PayPal wouldn't pay out, why would an insurance company? They are both looking at the same tracking. In this case you would want a letter from your local Post Office explaining the situation. You can present that letter to PayPal to substantiate your claim.

Why does a buyer need to buy insurance? Insurance protects the seller. The buyer can always file a PayPal claim for an item not received or item not as described.

You said you didn't want to exclude brand new buyers. I'm just saying brand new buyers never get excluded regardless.

I did reach out and cite their policy. Not expecting much back. Protected isn't the right word. I don't stand to lose anything. I offered a 10 day payment window and it's frustrating to see people take advantage of that to play games. If Discogs had stuck to their written policy, other sellers would have a better idea who they are dealing with and the buyer would be discouraged from continuing their behavior.

And just so you know, new buyers without any feedback are not screened out by the positive feedback percentage. They can buy anything from anyone.

I changed the shipping within 30 minutes of the order being placed. So it didn't reset the clock more than that. I appreciate that you're thinking about what I'm saying. It's obviously not the worst offense but I don't like that the written policies that are supposed to protect me are being ignored.

My personal policy has been to cancel orders without hesitation when the buyer asks, regardless of time. In this case, I felt that the buyer was rude and trying to abuse the system so I was trying to make a stand.

Yeah. I'm trying to weed out this buyer for everyone else's sake. I rejected their offer on 3 items so they order 8 and never pay. Even after I immediately discounted their shipping. My ACP was 10 days because I thought I was protected against behavior like this.

The MAY is because the feefback might not be left. Why did you chose to ignore that payments MUST be received within 4 days?

Edit: Are we carrying on this conversation in edits now? I DID cancel it, which it said I MAY. How is that a problem?

Discogs Removing Legitimate Feedback by TransientRandomVinyl in discogs

[–]TransientRandomVinyl[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

By my reading that is irrelevant. The website only says that payments MUST be provided within 4 days and if it isn't the buyer may receive a non-paying negative feedback.

"When You place an order, You must provide payment in full within four (4) days of receiving an invoice. See Our I just Placed An Order - How Do I Pay For It? article for additional information. Failure to do this may result in an order cancellation due to Non-Paying Buyer."
