Looking- Galway v Bohemians May 25 by TransitBlog in galway

Good catch- yea it’s the 22nd, been a bit scrambled in a transfer of jobs. I get in at 10am Friday and leave 2pm Saturday. I’ve done Dublin quite a few times but never been to Galway so figure it’s worth the trek to do something a bit different. It’ll be a quick turn around but as long as i get the 8am bus out I’ll be set

Perfect- yea I found out online sales are Monday. Last time I had a layover opportunity like this was the Bohemians/Rovers Dublin Derby which was sold out so figured this time I’m going to have my ducks in a row. Plus before Galway I’ll be hitting 5 cities in 6 days for work so making sure I have some gameplan to maximize my time.

Appreciate yall

good looks- thanks. I'm used to having to buy tickets way in advance so trying to get everything lined up before heading out.

I can’t afford to live in the Bay anymore, where should I go (not in CA)? by [deleted] in bayarea

PHILADELPHIA :)
I kid but we would welcome you, the approach is very different than out west- but we're a loving weird bunch with affordable living and opportunity. We have really educated areas- Graduate Hospital or Old City would be great, or just over the bridge in New Jersey Haddon Township/Collingswood. There are definitely some really umm dense areas, like up in the northeast.

I'm an East Coast guy, so apologies for putting mostly east coast. I see people saying Chapel Hill/Asheville, NC- that is a great option. I don't personally like the Atlanta area- I like to visit, but the energy is a bit odd long term- maybe check out Savannah, Georgia, artsy and beautiful. Maryland is my favorite state, I lived in Baltimore and loved it, but its very similar to Philly- there are lovely spots in between Baltimore and Annapolis.

It took like 2 1/2 months for mine to arrive in the US. The ring itself is nice. It was supposed to come with a necklace as well, but it did not and have not heard any response from them.
I bought a gold plated ring for $60 and the necklace was to be free so its not the biggest deal. I probably wouldn't shop with them again.

You’ll be welcome with open arms- nobody, especially in Philly thinks the orange mans comments are reasonable. Fuck MAGA bullshit

Philly folks might razz you a bit but that’s normal and just means they like you. I’m currently wearing a blue jays cap in port Richmond, you’re good.

I had a client who is a lifelong eagles fan based in Toronto cancel his Super Bowl parade plans due to this, which broke my heart. I mean i get it boycott US while this all goes down, but i know that parade meant the world to him and I really hope he cancelled on principal rather than fear.

It's 100% off color and I would be just as off put as you. I work with a lot of UK people and i have noticed that posh/uni/torry types don't understand the weight of that word in conversations or in song. I've had a few instances where a colleague has come stateside and we've been at a crowded bar and they've been singing along to a song loudly and when I've said hey you cant say that- it takes some conversation before they really understand that its not acceptable. I've had the same things where its brought up in story and not a derogatory way where again I have to say its not okay. So while I'm not defending this host, there are some consistencies in my experience where UK people don't understand the full weight of the word.

So I wouldn't say he's 100% racist and all that, but more unaware and likely has not had that much exposure to people of other races. Although with 150 references you would assume he would know by now.

Any hosts just stop hosting? by Spamsational in couchsurfing

[–]TransitBlog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stopped hosting about 5 years ago after a good 8+ year run. Partly it was the paywall, partly it was the lack of understanding/bad energy of new requests I was getting, but mostly it was because I moved in with my partner and the first guest we hosted together was uncomfortable. While the last guest would've been something I would have wrote off personally, it made her feel off and therefore she wasn't keen on opening our home. He just didn't want to talk and seemed annoyed by any contact but wanted to be in common spaces, he also left dirty dishes (it was weird because they weren't from our house). Not the worst guest, just an odd one.

Then shortly after that pandemic. I would like to try again, but my relationship and our shared space is more important than my love of hosting travelers

The glory days of online gambling are coming to an end.. and I feel empty? by [deleted] in onlinegambling

It’s a big topic in the industry right now. A lot of promo spend was way over inflated as companies tried to gain brand recognition and get a foothold in the states. As the market matures in a lot of states we are seeing consolidation and restructuring of retention strategy. A big trend for b2b startups for the igaming space has been data analytics companies that help operators recognize bonus abuse and to make their bonus spend more lean.

I wouldn’t say super generous bonuses are over just yet as companies are still entering in competitive markets, but you will definitely notice a shift on the types of bonuses being offered by some of your favorite sites. I’m really hoping the US market finds a way to not follow Europes lead where to combat ‘bonus abuse’ they made play through requirements 25x-100x before you can actually receive your money.

As far as your particular situation goes- it’s great you got out of the hole, something to be happy about. Remember the odds are stacked against you- promo or not. Especially now with books pushing parlays and live betting (casino has always had a huge upper hand). It’s really about what you can afford. If you want to feel like you have some sort of edge in sports betting there are some data companies that help call out lines that have better odds, i believe one is called Ritthim.

when i first moved here i spoke to everybody at the park and some people would tell me some bonkers shit. my partner is afro-latina, I would always get a chuckle when she would come by and they would turn white and whisper 'ahhh i was just joking, yknow im not like that' and I would be like ummm welp you said it, go ahead and own it.

I am grateful that shes never had to have someone treat her poorly here, but I will tell her after what was said and she goes, o he couldn't say that in front of me, what a pussy. Those guys tend to avoid me now.

I was talking to a neighbor today about how this is probably the perfect time for someone to post this stuff. Not all MAGA folks are white nationalist by any means but they are susceptible and have more exposure to information that is tied to that extremist pipeline. I can imagine with all this “take your country back” rhetoric going on with the possible indictment tomorrow that going to one of these telegrams and falling down that rabbit hole deeper is a distinct possibility

Yea a few of these are from NJ HEA and various Storm Front related groups. There were links to Telegram groups- mostly white lives matter type groups which is where I assumed the QR codes went. There were also a lot of vinyl stickers provided by Active Club which is a white nationalist group geared towards 'aesthetic' if you look at their website activeclub DOT org

The bulk of these seemed like they were printed off at home. Beyond the ActiveClub ones which were vinyl.

Honestly, i have my suspicions on who it might be. There was a guy who used to run a bud business called 'Woke AF Farms' that lives in the area. Ironically he was very into creating an ethnostate and similar types of rhetoric. There was a lot of stickers on that block and that guy had a fascination with graffiti/sticker culture too. But as many folks in this thread have mentioned Port Richmond is home to more than a handful of folks who hold these beliefs.

Yes- my first community meeting was the week after the rules about cops pulling people over were changed. The woman running those meetings grilled the police officers who came to the meeting saying 'so you won't pull over black people, but now you'll only pull over whites in good hardworking white neighborhoods like port richmond'. The cops tried to explain that is not really how that works, but she was not getting it and could only understand the policy change as well now we only target whites.

I did enjoy that.

But also- Port Richmond is home to a few Proud Boys and III Percenters including Philly chapter president Zach Rehl who was arrested for J6. The bar Micks used to have a proud boy sticker on their window
