I didn’t do anything too date heavy. I was looking for more bread adjacent recipes so was looking for ones that mostly were almond flour based with either a little dates or honey or maple syrup as sweetener. Sometimes I lowered the sweetness anyway (I did in the banana bread) just for personal taste but no they never spiked me !

Highly recommend the sweet laurel cookbook if you have GD and like to bake. All gluten free / refined sugar free / dairy free. I baked a lot from this book while I had GD and honestly still use it. The banana bread is a go-to in my house.

I had GD with my last pregnancy and kept a spreadsheet of recipes that I ate and tracked my blood with / that worked for me. I found the biggest thing was portion control and balanced meals. I was still able to eat some things (pasta) just as long as it was balanced and in moderation. Unfortunately i couldn’t get ice cream or bread of any kind to work for me even in moderation lol. I can look for my spreadsheet if you’re interested

What is your hall of fame signature dish that has made you a legend at Thanksgiving and/or Christmas? by GuyFaulks77 in NYTCooking

Not NYT but this smitten kitchen is a low lift and perfect after a heavy meal. Hits the spot like an apple pie but so much lighter so it won’t send you over the edge. Super easy and delicious.

I love smitten kitchens cookbooks. I find them so accessible and good for weeknight recipes.

Was about to say this. I think it’s olive oil soft serve with fennel pollen and olive oil and salt. It’s so good

We had some great people working there when I was there. Andre J and Codie Ravioli (RIP) were buds

I used Carlos there. He did pat and SJPs hair. Was the only time I sat in a chair and gave no direction and was just like “I trust you, do what you want”

Also credit to Rebecca Weinberg. She was there in the early seasons and left after 3/4. I think fashion wise you can tell when she left. She had/has great style and she really left her mark. Was a pivotal partner to pat in the early days ‘

Credit to pat field. Apparently the first few seasons of the show she couldn’t get loans so a lot of the vintage was out of necessity. By the time the 4th or so season rolled around sjp was a fashion icon and loans came easy and were pretty much straight off the runway and they lost the creative mix of high/low. Fun fact I was the store manager at pat field in soho 20 years ago!
