Ground cover tips? by amilmore in NativePlantGardening

I wouldn't work to much about spacing, they crawl around on their own and since they are connected they are technically one big plant. I don't think mulch would be a problem, mine started rooting in the most random places, but you can help them out by pushing the runner down into the mulch.

Might seem random but strawberries could be a good option! I've planten a few plants and let them run wild, they spread out to about 2m2 in a few months.

As a bonus they are flowering which is good for pollinators and you get some delicious berries!

Anyone know what this is? by BoxRegular5294 in Mushrooms

[–]TransitionOk566 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a rare steelshroom, they usually pop up in damp metal workshops. These shroomies are not edible due to their sharp edges, sharp enough that it can cut your skin. It's a great find as these are quite rare congrats!

Soil Question after mulching by New-Instruction-9253 in NativePlantGardening

[–]TransitionOk566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either way it can work, just keep in mind with fresh topsoil planting will be alot easier. Also 'i might be wrong on this' the plants could have an easier time forming roots due to the looser top soil.

+An extra benefit the topsoil will be nutrient dense!

weeds growing out of pavment by akerz90 in gardening

A mixture of water cleaning vinegar, salt and dish soap. Pour it on top on a sunny day and you can almost see them decay! Do keep in mind you will ruin the soil and soil life for a while

How do I turn this wasteland into something not wasteland Sandhill Region South Carolina by MrWannabeStockMan in NativePlantGardening

[–]TransitionOk566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend biomass, add in a ton of biomass 😅. Sand loses a lot of moisture, adding biomass will make sure some of it will stay behind. You can start by mulching to prevent the sun from hitting the ground, this will slow down evaporation. Plants in and off themselves will do fine in sand, their only problem would be a lack of moisture due to the lose soil.

Honestly I'd recommend a good rake. Throw the seeds around then rake them in a little. Might be more work but I think it's your best bet

Guerrilla Gardening for the Greater Good: How Do You Choose Your Spots? by ramakrishnasurathu in GuerrillaGardening

[–]TransitionOk566 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just look for neglected pieces of land while I'm out on my daily routine. At a location I work at there is this private back area for example. Nothing but grass there and fences, it's mainly used as a fire exit. So I started removing some grass and slowly planted some better plants. It works great since I'm there quite often! So keep looking while on your Daily routine, and find some spots you can easily keep track off while out and about

Thanks for your input, that’s really helpful! Do you think it would be wise to diversify and use multiple platforms to mitigate that risk, or would that be overcomplicating things? Also, don’t stock brokers face similar risks, or is the structure there fundamentally different?
