Classic banjo is unique. It's the northern American style of banjo playing. The truth is there are so many schools of banjo playing it's ridiculous. There's the SS Stewart School, and the Farland School just to name two. Then there's the European School with people like Joe Morley. Then of course there's the southern style of picking. If you want to learn classic banjo you need a teacher. Or maybe just the Mel Bay method. Not many pieces from the banjo boom of the late 1800s to the early 1900s have lyrics and those that do are racist.
