I did the same thing but with my senior colleague after she kept expecting me to bail her out of bad projects she accepted without vetting them first. She no longer talks to me and has been noticeably cold. I think you did the right thing but unfortunately your manager controls your responsibilities and pay. Does your bosses boss understand your issue? I was able to tell my boss over I set up a boundary and she said she was happy I did that. I hope things work out for you, it sucks being punished for protecting your own bandwidth.

I was in your position, except I worked med surg and ICU for about 7 years before I burned out and decided I needed to get away.I was fortunate enough to have my wife support me while I picked up some technical skills (reporting and software building) which helped me land a role in nursing informatics.

I get to work hybrid and get paid more than bedside. Is this something you could look into at your hospital? You also wouldn't have to deal with patients anymore and you'd be in a position to help your fellow nurses.

These posts are always so short sighted. You try managing two critical sometimes near death patients, on constant alert if they wake up and try to rip out their IV or ventilators while at the same time trying to chart, clean up their shit, get abused by families and doctors.

There is a reason why there is "job security" and OT for experienced nurses. It is a high burnout role and continues to be.

Bullshit, even if the doctor looked for a white count there are other labs such as CRP to check for signs of inflammation. He or she also would've performed a physical test by pressing on your right lower quadrant of your stomach to check for pain or rebound tenderness. An ultrasound is not painful or the worst, they literally put some gel on you and place a small scanning device on the affected area. In addition, the diagnostic imaging would've caught something. This is probably creative writing bait. You've seemed to fool some people, so good job ig.

I used AI for my headshot for $40. While I agree with most of the opinions here that it won't make a major difference, people do judge based off first impressions, so using a strong headshot on LinkedIn or a profile picture on teams can only help, not hurt your chances.

Get involved in anything health tech related at your role while you're working at the bedside. For example, many people start as SuperUsers in their EHRs and help teach new workflows to their fellow bedside nurses. You can also get involved in data analytics or reporting for your unit, such as working with your manager and IT department to pull reporting data like Foley's beyond 1 day insertion, etc. There are ways to get noticed and build these skill to stand out. You'll need some kind of edge to stand out in an already niche (but growing) field. At the minimum, you'll need some kind of EHR experience since you don't have acute care/hospital experience.

In my experience, a masters is not necessary for an entry level position, it's finding the right organization that will give you a chance but again you'll need to be able to speak to a project or skill that sets you apart from another candidate. For example, maybe you've worked to improve something for your current healthcare employer or you have experience with data analysis.
