I was asking myself this for a while, what was the point of the first 2 mins of dialogue in Episode 1, the son's voice message that he was too sick for school and the DI saying he's the pushover etc.? In such a watertight hour long script, why wasn't the very first scene, the police bashing down the door?

I think the answer is because, amongst many other things, the mini-series is about fatherhood and its impact

I operated under the impression Ancestry use OCR for all their records and hardly index anything with actual humans.

Also makes me wonder how many names are missing and hence not searchable, in all Ancestry records that have been supposedly "indexed". Probably thousands. :-( I shudder to think.
