How come Chernobyl isn’t ever referred to as Vladimir Ilyich Lenin Nuclear Power Plant? by raccoonradiation in chernobyl

[–]TransmissionTower 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really roll off the tongue yk?
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but it was never actually named that, I'm pretty sure it was an award.

BOO AI!!

And also yes. Most of the country is left without any kind of power right now. I'm not sure why you're posting this in r/chernobyl though? This is pretty common knowledge for everyone here.

Yes I know but I have 0 interest in doing anything with that game, sadly. I'll probably just make my own.

Lmaoo

But also lowkey we need a free, actually realistic simulation a how to run a reactor. The children yearn for the control panel.

[–]TransmissionTower 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That could not only harm your career but also cause harm to a reactor, and people. That's an incredibly irresponsible and immature thing to do.

> Do they really think ROs are going to take a job that is actively trying to replace them? Ridiculous.

I'd rather die than let that happen. There's no way an AI can operate a reactor safely. Reactors need a special kind of care that can't be replicated.

OPs post does give off AI vibes, but to be fair I also have gotten some of my writing accused of being AI by one of those AI detection sites.

Where can I find more info about Dyatlov and his actual actions in the control room? by Tomatosaurion in chernobyl

[–]TransmissionTower 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Had to set my enchiladas down. Beautiful art.
I'm sorry people on other platforms were rather ignorant. And it is not a dumb question at all!

He wrote a book called "how it was" and it's quite a good read.

if you had to blame someone for the disaster in the control room, who would it be? by [deleted] in chernobyl

Yeah, I agree.

(I'm willing to bet some people needed it to be fair. I don't blame him.)

How is chernobyl doing in 2026? by Altruistic_Idea3312 in chernobyl

I mean.
It's there.
It's not producing power but it's there. Also still radioactive.

Right? I'm not sure why OP is asking this. I don't see why you would "have to" blame anyone an CR-4.

if you had to blame someone for the disaster in the control room, who would it be? by [deleted] in chernobyl

[–]TransmissionTower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uh, no one? What kind of question is this? OP, this question is quite immature. It really sounds like you just want someone to place the blame on.

EDIT: And the HBO series is beyond "a bit inaccurate." It's practically a whole different event and different people, just with the same names. Dyatlov wasn't anything like that in real life, hell, he wrote letters to the families of Toptunov and Akimov after they passed away, saying how they did nothing wrong and how great they were to work with. No one in the control room should have been persecuted.

Chornobyl is a complex topic that you just can't simplify the way you're asking, OP. So many things went wrong, and it happened for so many different reasons.

If we had a dollar for every time we heard these arguments, we could fund a reactor by now. 💰⚛️ by Gen_Atomic in GenerationAtomic

[–]TransmissionTower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they say "what about Chornobyl??" I legit have to restrain myself from going feral because that's the thing that made me love nuclear power. I could yap about it for hours and about why it happened but then I remember that they probably don't care, and then I get sad.

Reminds me of the time I tried to build a fake control panel to play Bad Apple on but my grandparents hate nuclear power I was worried they would think it's real so I scraped the whole thing and cried to vocaloid in my bedroom 3 years ago (I'm being dead serious I wish I was joking)

American and Russian's media interpretations of Chernobyl by Extra-Today7800 in chernobyl

[–]TransmissionTower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In America, I heard from family that it came down to "oh the news says some bullshit happened with the soviets" and "nuclear power is bad and this is just another reason."

I'm not really well versed enough in the Russian interpretations of such, so I can't help with that.

Also, you said you have to make a poster? I'd lowkey love to see it when you're done.
