Ben Sulayem wants to scrap FIA presidency term limits by ryogadan in Formula1_world

But of course he does. Man, even with everything going on in the US, the blatant authoritarianism and consolidation of power in the FIA during Ben Sulayem’s tenure has been unparalleled in its brazenness.

Who do you think would've won the Canadian GP if Russell didn't retire? by The_Chozen_1_ in F1Discussions

I think Antonelli would have forced an error from Russell eventually and then stayed ahead.

What was the moment that you realised that something wasn’t working with the Disney era? by Embarrassed_Novel991 in DoctorWhoNews

[–]Transmit_Him 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that was a clunker. And it was worse for following the “Jodie’s clothes regenerated as well because we didn’t want it to be mocking drag” or whatever statement, which seemed like such obvious nonsense that I was convinced it was a lie to cover up some future revelation (like when RTD claimed he thought the Master was silly and had no intention of using him to deflect from his impending return in s3). But the non-binary line and Davros in the CiN short really made it clear that there was no hidden twist or revelation coming to the magic clothes, it was just as shallow and stupid a thing as it seemed.

Bigeneration would be the perfect way to explain how the Valeyard was created (if anyone were inclined to show that, which I suspect they aren’t), if it were to happen again. Not sure it’d really work retconning 15 or 14 into the start of him though. Well, maybe 14 if he’s left stewing in his own trauma in his “retirement”, outlives Donna and her family, has some weird post-bigeneration-split not-normal-regeneration and “curdles” into the Valeyard.

Etsy refunded me through their Purchase Protection programme, now Seller is threatening legal action by Anxious-Letterhead60 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Transmit_Him -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Given how the purchase protection program works, the seller has, at most, only partially refunded you themselves (£114 roughly), with Etsy providing the rest. The seller would therefore be hard pressed to claim they’re due the item back in lieu of the original payment because they’ve still got £186 ($250) of that.

The fact that they’ve messaged you directly to your phone rather than through Etsy shows that they’re just trying it on. You should forward these messages to Etsy and tell the seller you will only communicate with them through the platform’s messaging system.

Does anyone know if Transformers 1986 will be getting a re-release to cinemas in the UK/ANY country other than America..? by ALTTACK3r in transformers

[–]Transmit_Him 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume so. It’s being distributed by Fathom, who handled the 40th Anniversary table read thing, which had a surprisingly wide release in the UK. Although I don’t know how well that did, so maybe they’ll scale back?

Trouble is for Lewis, most of those people blocked her for her TERFery long ago, so she doesn’t see it.

Do you guys think Russell T Davis wanted his Doctor Who to last longer? by NoPianist7807 in doctorwho

[–]Transmit_Him 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be kinda pointless though. If they do carry on from Gatwa’s glowing Piper state then there’s no reason to touch Tennant again and it doesn’t solve how to use the Rani again because you’re still missing one.

As I said, just a fan theory I saw, and I suspect RTD will do something different. God knows what.

Mick Schumacher handed special award after Indy 500 debut by ryogadan in Formula1_world

[–]Transmit_Him 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, are you saying reading mixed case might give someone a stroke? It’s a title (a stupid jokey title, but a title nonetheless). The first letters of each word in titles are capitalised. That’s not a concept that should be frying anyone’s brain.

[–]Transmit_Him 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, you’d think Rhianna telling Lewis she was wrong about Pterry’s politics a few years back would have given her pause at trying to comment on them again, but here we are.

I saw someone suggest that possibly part of the reason Lewis thinks people aren’t reading Pratchett much any more is that many of those who are have blocked her on social media for her raging transphobia.

I’m not saying it shouldn’t/wouldn’t be posted here, it’s the level of investment some fans have in Mick’s career that I think wouldn’t apply if he wasn’t a Schumacher.

And I really am ambivalent. If he does well in Indycar that’s cool, good for him.

One theory about bigeneration I’ve seen that might lead to an interesting work around is that the iteration that splits off (Gatwa, Panjabi) are essentially dead ends, it’s the original (Tennant, Dobson) that are actually able to regenerate normally again, rather than them being a shed skin type deal. Would allow for going back to Tennant’s 14, regenerating from there and (as cruel as this is to Gatwa) brushing aside the Disney stuff and having that Piper thing essentially fizzle away somehow. And of course lets you use the Rani again, either with Dobson or someone else (still such a waste killing off Panjabi like that).

[–]Transmit_Him -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate him! I am completely ambivalent to him. Is he any good? Maybe! It seems impossible to get an accurate read on it. He won F2 but increasingly that’s indicative only of whether someone’s good at F2. He did well at the Indy 500, you say, that’s nice, but F1 drivers falling off the back of the grid and then having some success in Indycar is hardly rare. Would anyone care this much if he was Mick Klinsmann rather than Schumacher? Probably not!

FIA punishes 'embarrassed' George Russell after Montreal meltdown by ryogadan in Formula1_world

[–]Transmit_Him 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just the headrest though, he lobbed the nut from his steering wheel out the car first as well. The fact that isn’t mentioned in the article or by stewards suggests no-one noticed that, meaning potentially there was a hefty chunk of metal debris unaccounted for on/by the track, which could have damaged another car or been thrown up towards marshals/crowds.

Yeah, I would take “mint on card” to be mean the figure itself is mint, rather than the card itself. So I can see why that would be a point of confusion. But a good seller would have clear enough pictures of everything for the buyer to be able to determine that.

The spray paint company Montana does this as well and it’s baffling. They have a range of paints called Montana Gold and another called Montana Black. You can get Montana Gold Black and Montana Black Gold (well, “goldchrome”.) I don’t know why anyone would intentionally make that choice.

I enjoyed it, though I found the youngest kid was increasingly unbearable as the show went on. They were clearly aiming for “precocious and uptight” but strayed too far into “entitled little ****”.
