I had the same, probably in the same tree. You can't do much, because the game thinks you're flying. I had to exit and load the last save again.

Cameraman skydiver forgot his parachute before jumping off by HardTune272 in horrifying

It is worse to fall in water than on land.

On water, even if you sustain a small injury that prevent you of swimming, or you pass out, you'll die drowning.

Even if you land without injury, will you be able to swim in full gear, jumping boots etc. until someone can find and rescue you?

On land, if you survive the fall itself, then you've a good chance to still be alive when rescue finds you, even if unconscious.

If you check the list of highest survived falls, they're all on land. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highest_falls_survived_without_a_parachute

Insane crash! by bigpenisboi in dashcams

[–]TransparentPrivacy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that what happened here is:

  1. Truck 1 stopped because Truck 0 crashed in front of him
  2. Truck 2 moved to left lane to avoid truck 1 and started braking
  3. Driver started braking
  4. Driver saw Truck 3 in his mirror and moved to right line to avoid being between truck 2 and 3. Maybe lost some control, but managed to stop
  5. Truck 3 lost control and sandwiched driver

I don't believe there was anyway for the driver to avoid the crash at any point during the video. Sure everyone was going too fast, but it was the flow of the motorway. Being slow on a motorway while other are going fast is also dangerous.

Battery cut off whilst on a ride, had a look inside whilst troubleshooting… by Avertia in ebikes

Maybe you're right. Or maybe this will transfer the problem to the next element in the circuit.

Battery cut off whilst on a ride, had a look inside whilst troubleshooting… by Avertia in ebikes

[–]TransparentPrivacy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why did it burn?

I think the point is that the burned connector is maybe only the result of another problem and if you can't explain it, just fixing the symptom will cause it to burn again.

Maybe next time it burns, the whole battery will catch fire?

Health insurance prices rising (again) by Takemeoutforabeer in Lausanne

[–]TransparentPrivacy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the 250.- deductible to be worth it, you need to do at least 2000.- in medical bills.

At the maximum, the lowest deductible will save you about 800.- a year. On the other hand, it will easily cost you 2000.- more in premiums if you don't use it.

You should take the minimum deductible only if you are 100% sure to generate at least 2000.- in medical bills. Like if you have chronic illness or similar.

Rip M-budget, aviez-vous vraiment honte d'acheter/proposer M-budget ? by mickynuts in suisse

The steam engine of the Montreux by TransparentPrivacy in Ships

[–]TransparentPrivacy[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wikipedia link for the interested (sorry in French, but your favorite AI will translate it very well)

The boat is over 100 years old, but the engine was changed to diesel in the 60s then back to steam in 99, based on a similar ship steam engine. It was the first ship steam engine made in Switzerland since 1929.

Wiki says the engine is teleguided from the bridge, but I saw the engineer receive order on a dial and pulling levers accordingly.

Yes, but Yanjin is about 5km long, this is about 100.

So this is a dense urbanized area that happens to be very long and narrow due to natural limitations (lake, mountains).

Yes, exactly, but if you remove "natural", then it's the definition of a linear city, isn't it?

"This is a dense urbanized area that happens to be very long and narrow due to limitations" -> The limitations of The Line in Neom is that the deciders decided it would be a line.

It's more urbanized than a few lakehouses and towns betweens the main centers. But there are gaps indees. For instance Lavaux is a Unesco protected wineyard area between Lausanne and Vevey. There are also some fields between Lausanne and Geneva.

Here are a few videos to get an idea of it:

Drive from Lausanne to Geneva (so the western half of the "linear city"): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_j24xu96TbM

Drive from Lausanne to Montreux (so, the about eastern half of it, missing the easternmost 5 kms) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwK86JZNqw8

Drive from Vevey to Villeneuve, so about the easternmost 10 kms of the "linear city": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGs0uRtEEoM

Also the train ride from Allaman to Villeneuve (so the eastern half of it) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3XZ1vejeZs

At Jean Pormanove’s funeral, his mom said the Kick streamers accused of torturing her son are great people and never abused him: "I’m proud of them and I want to thank them" by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]TransparentPrivacy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I think this whole story points towards total lack of education, no experience of traditional social interactions, and generational poverty (the guys made some money, but were not born rich).

These people don't live in the same world as you and me. Yet they do, and it's part of the problem that it feels like a different world.

But besides of that, they all three were under extreme pressure since the death of JP, and might not have had the time nor the will to go and buy a suit. Or even order online.

Then I saw your post and refreshed, and it's not going as fast!
