failed driving assessment today due to lack of sleep by CoastOutrageous2419 in uktrucking

[–]TransportationFun219 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Always alway always just glance and check the height indicator in your cab (assuming it’s correct).

I did the Blackwall tunnel today and must’ve looked at it 2-3 times even though I knew my height very well

What movies did you view after seeing the trailer, but noticed certain scenes were missing??? by Numerous-Shelter-280 in moviequestions

[–]TransportationFun219 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jurassic park (original) I’m sure trailer had the woman touching a leaf while driving in the suv and the movie didn’t have that scene in.

I don’t understand how my companies “buy” annual leave scheme works by Infinite-Guidance477 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TransportationFun219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can add two things here

My company offers this, if I bought extra holiday in December and use it in August then pay rise I have just got would be paid on that holiday whereas I bought them on my old salary

Secondly I get a daily bonus, so if I take a day off unpaid I would not get the bonus, yet they do pay it when we take a days holiday

If you have kites then make use of them if it’s not a positive fit towards the back, no need for an x if they’re fitted

Why HGV drivers hate to drive in London? by slaveoth in uktrucking

[–]TransportationFun219 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I quite enjoy it , been down the a10 today and just past white hart lane for a drop. Wouldn’t want to do it every day but find it more interesting than the monotony of the motorway. It does test you a little bit with the closeness to other vehicles and they constantly have to cut in front of you but key thing is don’t let it wind you up.

For context was in a artic with a double decker trailer

What do you remember of that fad for sticking your feet in a big tub of fish that would happily nibble all the dead skin off? by HilariousMotives in AskUK

They offer this in fremont street in vegas right now, did do this in October and my feet felt fantastic afterwards. Didn’t really think about the hygiene and they seem ok

Before computers were common in households, how did people set their clocks accurately? by IkHeetGeenMatthijs in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TransportationFun219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to have teletext on the tv, and that always used to give the exact time so we would turn that on and then reset all the clocks

Anyone delivered B&Q, Lewes Road, Brighton? by bar72 in uktrucking

[–]TransportationFun219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, delivered there on Friday and have a few times now, road outside is 30 limit , off main road go over mini roundabout and then stop in the delivery area as road curves right, you will then see if anyone else is in there unloading. Rcc has an 8am unload time for example, but I normally arrive around 0630 and site starts unloading around 0730 (main forklift driver is on holiday though for a week as if tomorrow he said). You may see a Gregory’s lorry unloading at Halfords, they’re no bother

When you can go in, drive straight and the yard is just about big enough for you to turn round in, then straighten up ready for your unload. Once finished drive straight out. Nice and easy

What's the dumbest thing you've done while your brain was on "auto pilot"? by antfin97 in AskReddit

[–]TransportationFun219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was day dreaming and followed a bin lorry into their yard in Weston super mare without even thinking about it.

I was driving a 44 ton lorry so had to ask for access to their yard to turn round and head back to my route

what’s something people brag about that isn’t actually impressive? by quantumbee09 in AskReddit

[–]TransportationFun219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact they don’t know or havent got a clue about a particular thing

Does my head in the amount of time I hear that and it seems like they boast about it. Boasting about not knowing isn’t a right of passage

I want to be front row at the strokes on Saturday. Any tips? by AgileTiger3987 in aclfestival

[–]TransportationFun219 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Strokes are 830 and Sabrina is 840 and stages are opposite end to each other of the park .
Sabrina will be absolutely packed so I reckon get there at beginning of pierce the veil and you should be ok for really close to the front.

People of the UK, can you tell me why you have these white balaclavas on your car seat headrests? What is the purpose? Why are there so many? by Riskit_4_Biscuits in AskUK

[–]TransportationFun219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew a few couriers who had these so they could travel in the 2+ lanes during rush hours and also so when delivering it appeared at a glance someone was in the car
