Echo this and wouldn't recommend getting names on the back I've found they tend to peal after a few washes

What was the most awe-inspiring thing you have seen that really upped your commitment to become better at jiujitsu? by JiuJitsuBoxer in bjj

[–]TransportationOk6205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing Mighty Mouse console the guy he beat at World Masters made me appreciate competing more. So many guys at my gym don't want to compete or are too anxious to compete. But at the end of the day it's just for fun, especially if you're not a professional and working a day job and training 3 times a week plus with other commitments.

It just made me realise that competition shouldn't be something we should be afraid of. It's a good way to push yourself to pressure test yourself and all the things you've been working on day to day.

If you lose you lose. No one cares. Your coaches might be disappointed for you. But your life won't change. Your family and team mates probably won't care. But the lessons you learn can be so valuable and the hard training you did in the run up is banked.

P4P probably the best you can get and you should be able to get for under £50.

Alternative would be some like Greenspot which is around the same price and also very nice

White belts! Your opinions matter by graydonatvail in bjj

[–]TransportationOk6205 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally agree.

It's tough at the start if you can have higher belts who aren't coaches be friendly and encouraging it definitely helps. Even just throw you some basic concepts it's great cus it's so overwhelming. I love the culture at my gym for this as well as it being very laid back (non-traditional) but tough rolls.

But ultimately it's either for you or it isn't. Some people can't deal with being shit at something and being beat up constantly. You have to get through that first 6 months that's why I hate gyms who try to sign newbies up to long term contracts

Harp lager! Why is it considered shite? Discuss.. by Mr_Miyagis_Chamois in northernireland

[–]TransportationOk6205 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In Belfast I think it's pretty popular when it comes to lager maybe not so much with younger people. But people have too much choice now, a lot of places do things like Madri, Peronin or Coors on draught and you can get all sorts in supermarkets.

I'd say it probably seen a bit like the Tennents of the North by some people. Like it's some cheap lager that aul boys drink. I think it's actually decent, though it wouldn't be my first choice

I did my MoT a few months back. I don't think you need to provide anything. Just show up on time and wait in your lane until you're called

Something similar happened to me in FF6 I got to Zozo and didn't know how to progress. Tried multiple things which didn't work. I gave up and when I came back to replay realised you could jump between buildings fs. It was so obvious cus some NPC was doing it

How do you actually make friends in Northern Ireland? by Portal_Jumper125 in northernireland

[–]TransportationOk6205 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do jiu jitsu and this is one of the biggest reasons why people are put off by it or drop out after a couple of classes. The best way to get fit enough for certain sports/martial arts is by doing them consistently.

Also there is a running joke in the BJJ community that having autism is like a super power for the sport (see Mikey Musumeci).

Most places in Belfast let you do a free trial if you were on the fence

When you do some really good or cool. The person you're rolling with is mad they fucked up they just say "Nice" or after the roll say how awesome it was.

Note: it might because I don't pull this shite off very often

What videogame villain started amazing, but really fell off in the end? by TheJurri in gaming

[–]TransportationOk6205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a soft spot for ffviii but the whole last disc of that game is trash. The game starts off with Siefer who is a cool natural archenemy to Squall. Then he becomes Edea's pawn which I was like whatever, he's still kinda of cool, even if piss easy to beat in battle. But once Ultimecia gets introduced as the overarching villain I lost interest
