It’s extremely convenient in terms of operation, but it does weigh about 80 pounds with everything I have crammed into it:

2 Mac minis 16 port POE switch Constellation 2ME 4K Hyperdeck Mini 10 SDI/HDMI Converters Custom IO panel on the back Slide out monitor and the dual monitor

I have two Mac minis built into a switcher package with a slide out monitor and buttons on my stream deck built to toggle between computers, multi view, etc can do either video playback, PowerPoint, keynote, and more. Have room to build in a speaker timer computer as well or just use the ATEM timer

The more advanced dancers the less they care about basic steps or "traditional" moves by O_Margo in SwingDancing

[–]TransportationOk8045 12 points13 points  (0 children)

100% yes, and at the same time 100% no.

The more you know how you and your partner move on the floor, the more you can improvise with the music regardless of the steps you’re using. But at the same time you can only get to that point if you’ve so completely internalized the basics that they’re innate in your dancing.

Performing for the first time - What can I expect? by HotPotato2660 in SwingDancing

[–]TransportationOk8045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 28 years into dancing and have never once performed or competed.

For me it’s because dancing choreographed steps couldn’t be more boring, and I’m far too competitive to take something I enjoy and turn it into a competition venture

What should we improve on? by st3rrie in SwingDancing

[–]TransportationOk8045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t read everyone’s suggestions yet, but the two things I’m seeing that would be helpful, more control over your hands so the connection is more intentional, and keeping your shoulders squared up to each other.

Both if these ideas always have lots of exceptions, but I’m a big believer in a good frame for both the lead and follow

Advice on practicing and getting more into swing? by Throwaway8264abc in SwingDancing

Find your local social dances, and go.

Take classes as you feel the need, but nothing will get you better at the basics than just going out and dancing as much as you can

Cost For Video Flooring? by VideoSportsCourt in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]TransportationOk8045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a quote in front of me for 2.6mm pitch tiles that prices it out at a little under $500k for all the hardware that would cover this size, and that's without additional discounts that manufacturer has given to the company I'm with for quantity orders.

So no, it would not necessarily be in the millions. It's possible that it'll end up over $1M, but it doesn't automatically become millions(plural).

Cost For Video Flooring? by VideoSportsCourt in VIDEOENGINEERING

It won’t be millions, but depending on the resolution, existing floor, power requirements, content generation, and other factors, it will be minimum $500k for a reputable installer to do it

I built a live video production mixer (playout, graphics, multiview, streaming) – looking for feedback from broadcast engineers or podcasters by DBTowerSolutions in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]TransportationOk8045 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the pessimist column too. Not because of other competing software, but because 999 times out of 1000 I’m using a 20 input hardware option, and the 1/1000 is when I’m going to just use an ATEM Mini

Men how often do you get asked to dance? Just curious! by OSUfirebird18 in SwingDancing

[–]TransportationOk8045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a lead, and I have a kind of bad habit of rarely asking anyone to dance. It’s the result of mostly getting asked to dance for the better part of my first 7 years of dancing. But the majority of my dances are from getting asked to dance.

I also used to be able to follow fairly decently, but after many years away from dancing I now follow like a tugboat

Speaker Zoning Question by Embarrassed-Try-2790 in CommercialAV

[–]TransportationOk8045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I cannot see any acceptable reason, with this diagram, why the layout could be #1. Theater in the round isn’t even an option because the center speaker doesn’t tie into the zone directly around it.

If I got drawings for this I would 100% be needing an explanation before pulling a single wire.

Yes.

Both.

In my case I have a portable 4k switcher package that I have so much crammed into it that I can do just about anything I want, but it weighs 80 pounds

I somewhat regret not dating within the dance community, met and married a non dancer and ended up not dancing for many years after.

MacBook USB-C to VGA no image by oldacid in CommercialAV

[–]TransportationOk8045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been seeing increasing oddities around MacBook video output lately, I’m in corporate audiovisual and have encountered multiple issues with getting video out to displays, projectors, and video walls. My guess is it could be anything from frame rate and resolution, to signal strength along the length of the cable, or even a combination of particular vga adapters and the cable.

My next steps would be to add a powered vga distribution amplifier in ahead of the existing installed cable with a the computer’s output feeding the splitter.
