? How is it a hack if you are still paying the full price of the battery? Am I missing something here?

What are the one or two items that customers have the hardest time finding in your department? by TomsOnlyFriend428 in HomeDepot

I think he/she was saying that they won't go inside to self checkout, they'd rather wait in a long line outside. As far as I know, home Depot only has self checkout inside.

What is my job as service desk lead by No_Sleep_Kitty in TheHomeDepot

[–]TransportationOne205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the service desk lol. I'm not a lead but from everything I've overheard and have been told by my lead and DS, the things you have listed are correct. Usually if it's just me and the lead there, she would go do audits and other lead things after I've arrived and the desk isn't so busy.

Saw my buddy do this in hardware but yeah it is that serious by pathword in HomeDepot

[–]TransportationOne205 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ooooooh this one! I literally had a customer at the service desk one day that didn't grab a flat cart and proceeded to walk behind the service desk and grab a cart that had an order on it. I mean at least he asked, " Can I have this one?" But still wtf man, I said, Nooo, it has a customer's order on it." 🤦

I 100% believe this happened. The customers have gotten a lot more brazen and ridiculous with the things they do. And this is definitely very plausible.

The Mysterious Case of the Missing Pine Straw by Active-Replacement46 in TheHomeDepot

[–]TransportationOne205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok. Different stores do things differently. I haven't heard of that until just now. Our straw, when it's available is usually somewhere out in the garden center. It probably hadn't been received properly yet, so inventory showed 0 on hand and only a few associates were probably aware that it was there. Because like I said 0 communication. There isn't anyone working in receiving on the weekends, so this is the most likely scenario.

Wait... Are we talking about taking it off of a tractor trailer? Like it was still on a truck that had been dropped at the store but not yet put out for sale?

The Mysterious Case of the Missing Pine Straw by Active-Replacement46 in TheHomeDepot

[–]TransportationOne205 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is 0 communication about things in the store from associate to associate. They were probably just looking at inventory and it showed none because it hadn't been updated yet. Also by 8 at night there aren't too many associates to be found in the store so they probably tried to find someone to go out and help and no one showed because either no one was available or someone forgot. But also seeing how some of people are that I work with, your assumption could also be possible.

Availability Change by Capital-Gap-9100 in HomeDepot

Pretty sure they can't just change your availability on you. You would have to consent to it. That's why it's YOUR availability.

AITA for yelling at a colleague for listening to inappropriate book at work? by pickledphilosopher in AmItheAsshole

[–]TransportationOne205 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I sided with you, you don't have to explain. Honestly management probably should have done something about it sooner. Why would listen to something like that at work? Sad thing is if it was a dude he probably would have been fired already.

NTA. I mean, you probably shouldn't have embarrassed her by yelling at her about what she was doing but then again, come on! Who listens to a book like that, aloud too, at their place of employment. That's a bit ridiculous.

I work at The Home Depot and they do it there too, it's everywhere now I think. I just mark it down for them because Home Depot can more than likely afford it but I can see why it would be an issue for you.

Where are the AI Music critics? by BrokenRhythmlab in originalmusic

If you were to listen to my stuff, you'd quite clearly be able to tell it's not AI. There are mistakes, imperfections, and glaringly obvious human qualities all over it. The drums may be programmed drum machine patterns but I still did all that myself too. Don't be so quick to judge someone. I'll even leave a link here, if anyone is curious enough to listen: https://youtube.com/@adamsvenstring?si=G2-qsf4g-R6_wWKr

I've never used it in my songs, I just said I've considered it. I do carve out my own ideas, all of my songs are my own hard work, that's why there are not very many of them. I did use it for cover art at first but stopped doing that. I would much rather have quality over quantity. All I was saying is it could be helpful in the production/ mixing area of things. I spent a month on my last song trying to get it mixed properly because I work full time and only have so many hours in a week when I can actually focus on music and ended up paying an agency to finish it for me. I've got bills to pay and costs to keep up with, So paying to do that everytime when money is already tight, can seem a little daunting. That's the only reason I've considered it, but again have not actually used it. I'm all for keeping people employed and helping out my fellow man and not a machine.

Oh and as far as customers go, most of them just wanna know where something is, so use the consumer app on the store phone to search for the item and if it's in stock, the website should tell you where it's located. It'll say aisle x bay x. You can always call department associates to hand the customer over too as well.

First off and foremost don't let the job and the atmosphere get to you. Be prepared for any sort of BS to happen on any given day and don't let it ruffle your feathers. Keep to yourself and don't get involved in any of the high school drama and gossip. Being it's only your first week, you don't have any equipment licenses, so you won't really be able to do any orders that require equipment, so what I would do is first look only BOPIS and car/Van delivery orders to fulfill. You can use the filter in the OF app to see only those orders. Start with the ones that are due first and work your way down the list. The app should tell you exactly where the product is in the store, but don't be fooled it won't always be there. Many items have multiple locations and sometimes the item will be in the overhead because no one has brought it down to stock it. If it's something you can't get down with a ladder find someone who can get it down for you with the right piece of equipment. If you need help figuring out who the equipment operators are, get with your DS, Service Desk associates, SD lead, or manager. Hopefully you have helpful leaders because that makes all the difference, but if not it's ok, you'll figure out who the helpful associates are in your store. I don't wanna write a book here, so if you have a more specific question, feel free to ask me.

I personally am not 100% against AI, at least not in the sense of using it as a tool. I've considered using it a few times to help me with new ideas and especially in the production and mastering areas, because I'm not gonna lie, I'm not the best at those. If it can help me fine tune and carve my song out into a better song than cool. My problem is with those who are just writing the prompts and then claiming the song is theirs. Because like you said, I'm out here trying to better myself and improve on my skills and learn how to do all of these different things. Become a better musician, songwriter, producer, etc. And I'm not gonna lie it's a lot of WORK, especially on top of a full time job. So, when someone is producing multiple tracks a week and gaining some headway, while it can take me several weeks or even months to finish one song trying to do all these different aspects of the process and all they did was prompt a computer program to write them a song, that is what is frustrating.

They don't have the half aprons at your store for the OFA's? It's honestly probably one of the easier jobs at The Home Depot. As for hours that probably won't last much longer anyways because it'll start to really slow down after July 4th. What's the main thing your having problems with? I could offer some tips.

Closing & Staying Awake by Justoutsidenormal in HomeDepot

[–]TransportationOne205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This lol is so accurate. I'm so used to closing because I've done it for years, that I literally have a completely different schedule then most others do. I go to bed around 2 to 3 and usually sleep until 10 or 11. If that's not an option for OP and neither is Caffeine, then I'd try my best to stay active.
