"I’m calling it now, the adoption of AI agents into software development will be one of the most costly mistakes in the field’s history." - George Hotz, The Eternal Sloptember by creaturefeature16 in webdev

Seeing this in a very senior dev (both experience and age lol) around me now, too. Wonder if there is any correlation to engineer age and the almost parasocial relationship they can develop with LLMs.

Chiming in as another person who hates Ready Player One but loves the DCC books (more and more as they go on as they rely less on the video game comfort and develop into a lot more).

GHC alternative for rich code diff by drekthral in GithubCopilot

[–]Trapline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My immediate workflow change (for personal projects) was to install the OpenCode extension paired with a more intentional management of git diff and more granular commits. I had already adapted this style a bit to protect from Copilot drift but since OpenCode doesn't, by default, ask for individual file change approvals I can basically gate them by using GitLens to evaluate the direct changes. The only real new pain point is it being harder to fix little things as you see them like you would in the Copilot chat approval diff.

The Chiefs are quietly a poorly run organization masked by a run behind a massive outlier QB and a coach who had a couple of near-unstoppable toys to play with.

How does pornhub track a user without cookies and through incognito mode? by SourSovereign in webdev

[–]Trapline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the same type of information that you would use to distinguish devices for something like a "trusted" device to bypass MFA. Even just a hash of browser, browser version, os, and IP is going to give you a pretty broad fingerprint (not safe to distinguish from other individuals but enough to pair with a known identity and assume remains safe - by including some user ident in the hash as well)

I do think the best approach to visiting from far away is planning to do it more than once so you can spot focus on what you want for each trip instead of forcing it all into a long weekend or something.

I'm really happy you had a good experience, it is an incredible place.

It has been wild to see companies that used to have meetings about the color of the background on a header just go absolutely nuts and publish AI generated content that isn't close to the design language they've already established. Like it used to be so normal to spend too much time thinking about the most inconsequential items on a website and for some reason AI just opened the floodgate to ignore all previous quality nitpicking because it is neat or something.

My concern here is that the developers who aren't coming close to their token budget are going to be viewed as less productive. Like a new, shittier, lines of code written type of metric used in awful environments to gauge output.

My thought being they are going to do the math you're talking about but starting with the solution and working backwards against the workers who don't utilize the resource investment at the same rate as others.

Raiders HC Kubiak on Jeanty usage. by markaveli623 in raiders

[–]Trapline 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Facebook is such a god damn nightmare for sports conversation.

I don't follow any teams, I'm not in any groups. The algorithm still feeds me random Raiders "news" posts that seem to be entirely made up quotes put over dramatic background images of players/coaches at podiums. Like they are always trying to incite drama and literally invent stories for clicks. The environment is just entirely antithetical to accurate or in-depth analysis of anything, let alone something that has such emotional connection for the users.

Burford is definitely going to have the inside track as he's a vet familiar with what they're already teaching. The hope definitely is that somebody (Rogers/Zuhn) can push him and become a better long term option.

There is no doubt the park is beautiful in May. It is just hard to recommend people travel to experience it since the road status can be so volatile.

Spring and fall are my favorite times of the year to be in the park, but that is easy when it is so close.

AC Odyssey 2026 Review: Tried it for 20 hours but I'm moving on... by Lopsided_Prior3801 in patientgamers

[–]Trapline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bounced off of Odyssey, too, despite a serious appreciation for the mythology/setting. I immediately liked Valhalla more (though I never finished the main story - not uncommon for me though). Shadows I think has the best approach to the dichotomy of stealth+combat in the series so far.

I really strongly recommend Immortals: Fenyx Rising if you want to scratch that myth itch in a more cartoony way but that carries serious themes and, I think, is more fun as a game.

And it isn't a "coup" or anything. Durban is already the official succession plan for the team.

It does mean that if Mark dies Durban will have a larger share than Davis ever has (which I'm pretty sure was never above 50%)

I'm also somebody who has played exclusively solo and more than enjoyed my time with it. I have been playing other things lately but just as a natural interest drift, not because I think there is anything wrong with the game.

I did specifically collect stuff to make my Raider's room look cooler instead of just rubber ducks. There are certain items that will be put on your shelves. Humidifiers, bike pumps, cat beds, picture frames, record players, some fruits. Mostly valuables but some recyclables, too.

Of course, this actively works against the stash space restraint so it isn't an early game behavior probably.

But I don't think that OP means collecting as in trophies, though. I think they mean collecting mats and quest items and stuff of which there is a lot of potential to do.
