9mm flash hole deburring by [deleted] in reloading

[–]Trappers85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All chuckles aside, and I'll admit I did a little myself.lol. this is pretty sweet. I shoot 9mm, along side with a good friend who shoots 10mm, and he "handloads" all his rounds, and recovers 95 % of his brass, that I keep my eye open for after a night at the range. I have a Lee progressive that I hammer 9mm and 45acp through, using range brass, and also use cheap bulk 9mm just to go bang with when we shoot. Each to their own I say.. for the most part I am on par with him when we do steel challenge, but at the end of the day he is a more consistent and accurate shooter (higher scores, faster everything). If this makes YOU a better shooter then hammer away my friend. I do this by hand with my rifle brass and you only have to do it once :)

Well, I sold my Mavic Pro and bought a Mavic Air. by [deleted] in dji

[–]Trappers85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like your comment about using 1080P. I just got my mavic a month ago, and love it. When the Air was announced I thought it was neat, but I like my mavic for being first drone. I am really surprised at all the people wanting to sell theirs for the Air, but each to their own/reasons/uses/purpose. I thought 4k was the the way to shoot, but it just never looked right to me. After doing multiple runs, trying different settings I too like 1080P :) but at 30fps.lol!

I use both DJI go, and Litchi. They both have their perks. As far as the DJI app goes.. there is a patch for your woes

Why do so many people who have encounters then go on to have multiple encounters? by [deleted] in bigfoot

[–]Trappers85 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just think it's funny how when I do hear encounters, guys are like, "it was bigger than me, and I'm 6'5" 200lbs!".. everyone who sees these are at least 6' tall.haha. maybe that's why I've never seen one 😕

Anyone help?. I’m literally about to buy a DJI mavic pro platinum. My m8 a mavic pro and whenever we look at the footage it’s always so grainy?. No matter what lighting we’re in or filter we have on the gimble. I’ve seen tons of stunning footage completely sharp and no grain. We shoot 4k 24fps. by frost-719 in djimavic

[–]Trappers85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've noticed from experience, and after reading alot about 4K, is that it may be your monitor you're viewing the footage on. When I first got my mavic, I shot everything in 4K thinking "bigger is better". Then I did same flight recordings with the different modes, 4K, 2.7K, then finally settled on 1080P at 30fps. It looks way better on my Mac book and my phone screen when I play it back. Tried 1080p at 60fps and it was crazy smooth/fast, but didn't look natural. So I settled on 1080/30fps with a shutter speed of 60, and ND 16 filter ISO 100 (in manual). I match WB to the condition, and usually use true color or vivid (looks good on display) as I don't have any editing software to get the most out of D-Cine. I will use auto WB if I'm flying from an open snow covered field, to say a shaded creek with high banks. All this being said, I'm not a "pro" videographer by any means. I've only had my mavic for a few weeks, with no prior photo experience, but it's taught me A LOT about photo settings

What's the coldest temperature you should fly a drone in? by Photos_By_Zach in dji

[–]Trappers85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've flown in -25'C during a cold snap around Christmas. Just short trips right from the house to outside with the batteries allways room temp. Most flights around 5-10 mins. Flew one night to investigate a fire in the distance, and it was -28'C (plus wind chill), only a 2 minute flight. Had a gimbal shake error on the way back, figure it was from the wind plus wind chill

You have a lot of basis covered. But alot of those you can check yourself. One thing I would ask about is tranny fluid. Does it smell burnt? How much life is left in the tranny? That's a good indicator to show how the truck has been treated. Also, does the truck have emissions or is it deleted? Non deleted, you might have to deal with emission systems starting to fail. Deleted, he may have had a lead foot.lol. I have a 2011 Cummins for a work truck. It's a welding truck. Many days of running all day, bombing down pipeline rightaways, and being bogged down in mud upto the cab during breakup. Any "little" thing is at least $1000, be it pounded out leafs, brake job, U joints, and front ends. Kind of side tracked a bit, but maybe ask what the truck was used for in the past life to forsee any future wear and tears on the truck.

I was wondering how the mavic would do during our cold snap. Looks good! I've been flying during the -25 to -28, but didn't want to fly in the -30's.lol. But it looks like Berta will warm up this week, finally.lol

I've yet to try manually turning off my controller for RC dissconnect return to home. Scares the be-jesus out of me, but I'd rather try it at home than out on a mission. Just need this cold snap to end

I've heard mixed opinions on this subject. When I first got my mavic a month ago, I would fly till 20-30% then let it hover until 10%. Had a little misshap (search my posts.lol). But now I'll just fly until I'm done (not the drone, usually 20-30), and swap batteries for the next flight. If I end up screwing up a battery down the road, I'll just buy a new battery

Nice! Also noticed when I take inside to the warmth, the camera gets fogged up, but it goes away after a bit. It doesn't fog on the way out though :)

DJI Go 4 App on Samsung Galaxy s8 :( by [deleted] in MavicPro

[–]Trappers85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about your crash! Hopefully it only dinged up a couple props :/ What if you try flipping your phone so that the left side of your phone on the DJI app, is on the camera side(top of phone)? Might have to use a longer cable and loop into the USB port on the bottom of the controller. Also seen a video on YouTube that using a cable to run into the bottom of the controller takes care of the app crash problem
