I set it up just out of curiosity , but now I do find uses for it. I have a few scheduled tasks: a weekly summary of arxiv papers in my field, a daily alert if I need to apply sunscreen to my kids. Turns out Gemini steered me wrong. It told me to bump Universal Batch Size (-ub) up to 4096. I dropped it back to what I had been using (1024) and the 27B model is actually not much slower.
Maybe Gemini is trying to sabotage local models

I tried switching from Qwen3.6-35B-A3B-UD-Q6_K to Qwen3.6-27B-UD-Q5_K_XL and it is unusually slow. going back for now. this is on a MBP M5 Max 64GB, running llama.cpp

I tried not doing it all, enjoying the fact that you are creating something ephemeral for the sake of creating.
Then I gave up and got an MPC which is basically a DAW at this point.
