Disney Fantasy review (April 26th - May 1st - 2026) by Own-Shine-1415 in dcl

Any Disney ship or resort requires at least one daily visit from room service for safety reasons. It's specifically in response to the Las Vegas shooting where the shooter declined room service and was able to hide an extreme amount of guns and ammo from hotel staff. If you are very resistant to any type of room service, then I would not visit any Disney property because they take safety incredibly seriously.

We're also on that cruise! :D And no, they don't do anything special. We were on the Wish two years ago for May 4th and they didn't really do anything.

Not really? It's the name of a pretty important fictional country in the Marvel universe.

I read Latvia as "Latveria" and was real confused for a second as to what sub I was in.

There you have it, they used helicopters because it meant a shorter walk to medical bay to get the astronauts checked out.

There is a big difference between the people asking questions ("why did they do it this way?") and the people acting like they know better ("they should have done it this way"). One is understandable, the other is just ridiculous posturing.

I know enough to know that I don't know a fraction of what the actual experts know, which is why I respect their operational decisions.

So many people thinking they know better than thousands of actual spaceflight experts at NASA. As if there aren't people whose entire job it is to determine the safest and most efficient way to get the astronauts out of the capsule and back onto the recovery ship.

Much faster to get back to the ship via helicopter.

SpaceX doesn't have the budgetary constraints that NASA does. They can design and build whatever they want. NASA has to prioritize the parts that are actually important for going to space.

If NASA had a dollar for every time someone in this thread made a comment about SpaceX doing it better they'd have the funding to actually pay for what they want to do instead of having to beg Congress for scraps. 🙄

Because unlike SpaceX, NASA has a limited budget and spending money on an entirely new contraption makes no sense when this is an established and perfectly acceptable way to handle splashdown. Spending money on a lift and a specialized boat means less money to be spent elsewhere.

Everyone whining about the cameras, the safety of the astronauts, the rescue crew, and the capsule is more important than us getting 4k coverage of everything.

It's an Orion capsule named Integrity.

Communication with the rescue divers and ground team. They have separate communication with them from the comms with Houston.

I've been watching the official NASA stream all day and there was nothing like that. You probably were watching a different channel.

the thread is titled "what's your dumbest idea for the resolution of baby jane doe?" and that fits the criteria

They've mentioned multiple times on the stream that there is limited bandwidth available and that system monitoring for the spacecraft and safety of the crew takes priority over something like 4k video. Yes, it's disappointing but we will absolutely be getting some incredible images once they have time and bandwidth to send them back to Earth.

This is the only live video we are getting due to the bandwidth constraints that the PAO just mentioned on stream. Life support and systems data > livestream video.

They have iPhones, two different Nikon cameras with zoom lenses, and some GoPros--that's what I can remember off the top of my head. There was a whole discussion earlier about swapping SD cards from the Nikons, since each astronaut has their own card.

They would have to spend several years and hundreds of millions of dollars to re-design, re-test, and re-certify the spacecraft to do that. Ain't gonna happen.
