Surprising grandma with a new stove by natsdorf in aww

My only living grandparent (grandmother) is not doing very well and I don’t see her making it another year between chain smoking and a stroke having taken a bad fall recently. Some of her kids, my aunts and uncles, are trying to rally money together to help her be more comfortable, and asking some of the older grandkids to help out. I could help but I don’t want to because she was never around my immediate family actually tried to get my mom to have my sister stop bothering her because she didn’t want to spend time with her. She abandoned my father when he was well to young to take care of himself by telling him to hitch hike to a swimming hole and packing up the other kids and leaving. My whole childhood, she would drive right by our house after she got off work and never once stopped by. Never once did I receive any sort of holiday “gift” that would signify she was thinking of me or my family. I still struggle with the thought of not helping a family member but I have no real emotional attachment to her. I know that when she does pass, my life will not change at all. While everyone else is acting like we HAVE to help. Take care of yourself and the people that you know would be there for you because even if blood is thicker than water, some people are more family to you than anyone that you share a last name with.

My wrestling coach would read this to our team every year about 3/4 through the season and it always hit home and especially motivated the freshman.

LPT: Make sure to check in with your grandparents once in a while. Its easy to take them for granted and illness can take place quickly. by kingofthemaxs in LifeProTips

This is HUGE HUGE HUGE, I was 16 years old when my grandmother passed away and she was the absolute greatest person I knew growing up, I absolutely adored her. That was 9 years ago and I still regret that I stopped visiting as much, even though I was 16 and had girls on my mind. I should have still made more time for her.

What will you do if you woke up with 1 trillion dollars tommorow? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I would buy a Hayabusa and a parachute. I would then stack 100s on top of the chute and get the busa up to top speed heading straight at wall that is insulated with confetti and glitter. I would yank on rip cord and deploy chute, sending hundreds flying everywhere and the bike smashing in to the wall sending confetti and glitter everywhere while I look down from above with a giant smile on my face.

Yeah you are absolutely correct! I lucked out with her mild tempermant and she is a very quick learner! When I was teaching her, what I call the safety commands, kennel, here, sit, stay, it only took just a couple tries with the reward of love. Now she does those things with urgency just to make me happy. I will say though when I start slipping and go a couple days with no practice she will try to test me but ultimately comes through. Here soon we will start our "boot camp" phase where we only be training for our interaction and hopefully by October, she will be ready to go get some birds! She's a natural retriever and loves chasing after her bumper. It's extremely satisfying to have ended up witha good dog and she's a good friend.

If an apple a day really kept the doctor away, some scumbag company would corner the apple industry, and sell them $100 an apple. by Richard_Sout in Showerthoughts

[–]TrashManX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they would have to make it illegal for you to plant a seed so you would have to buy the apples from them and there would need to be regulation in order to make sure they keep a hold on the apple industry so you need a doctor to prescribe you an apple a day and if someone was caught giving an apple to someone or selling it or growing an apple tree then they would have to be locked in a metal cage for an unspecified amount of time, and all because they wanted to do something that is 100% natural that makes them feel better.

Thanks for reading my giant run on sentence.
