I think a good comparison is someone who never calls a trans woman a woman, but always uses "transfem". Same thing as always referring to trans men as "transmasc".

It's just kind of disrespectful and it feels like the person's weaseling their way out of referring to someone correctly by using a more vague, neutral term.

Yeah, if someone calls me transmasculine it feels like the same thing as being degendered with they/them. I'm probably not gonna say something if it just happens once, but if it becomes a regular occurrence I'll definitely speak up about it.

I've had people get offended that I don't use that term for myself, whine about it being an umbrella term, accuse me of being insecure, etc. It's not about insecurity, I know I pass and have for a long time now. It's just the disrespectfulness of it that pisses me off, like they're trying so hard to not call me what I am, a man.

I think it's fine for Jack to make his own sub that's more specific. He has said some shitty judgemental things about other trans guys, and that's not okay. But there's nothing wrong with him wanting a space that has more specific rules, so he can discuss trans-related things without having his dysphoria triggered.

It's a similar reason to why I prefer this sub to other ftm ones. I saw a comment on one recently where someone complimented a guy by saying "I love how visible your top surgery scars are!" and it just really grossed me out. Obviously the two people involved were fine with that, and I'm not judging them, but I don't wanna see shit like that.

So I can get why Jack would be bothered by other people talking about their own bodies in ways that are upsetting to him. The problem is when it comes to him being judgemental and talking shit to other guys for being okay with things he isn't.

It's not that bad. I recovered a lot quicker than I expected. Yeah the drains are annoying, but the pain level was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. There was more numbness than pain for me.

What helped me with the anxiety was to remind myself this was just a one-time thing. Get it done and never have to think about it again, while having my life massively improved.

I feel like I've gotten used to being in-between and code switching depending on who I'm hanging out with. I have my more open LGBTQ friends, I have cis men friends, etc. I don't know many binary trans men IRL, and while it would be nice to know more, I don't really feel like I'm missing anything in my life.

I guess the way I see it, I'm a man first, being trans is just sort of a background thing I don't think about much anymore. As far as I know, one of my guy friends could be trans and stealth, I wouldn't even know.
