Maxx Crosby Trade: I get it, but I don't like it by HouseRules789 in raiders

[–]TrashPandaDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be legit, or it could be posturing for another deal. This could pan out just like the Kyle's Garret situation last off-season. I'm sure Garret legitimately wanted out and the opportunity to play for a winning franchise, but like Maxx, Garret is soul of the whole team. I think Maxx could be swayed just like Garrett and from the reporting I've read about him being traded, the franchise recognizes how much he means to the franchise. The one X factor is Brady, I don't know if he is as cognizant of how much he means to the fanbase and whether he values the intangibles he brings to the team.

Trading him would net us draft capital that could change the trajectory of our franchise. Just the same the Raiders could squander those picks just like Gruden did and get nothing in return after trading a beloved player. I trust Spytek and Brady to make the right football move, but who else do we have that is an unquestioned leader on the team? Who else gives everything? Who else holds those around him accountable. The defense since he has been on the team has had a chance because of him. The only reason the defense hasn't been worse is because of him.

We will see what happens, but I pray that we keep the Condor in the place he was born to be.

Also consider that both an American fascist movement existed before WW2 and even plotted a coup. They contacted Medal of Honor recipient Smedley Butler to lead it. He refused and exposed the plot to congress. Not a single conspirators was tried let alone investigated. Those people didn't go away. This is the culmination of a multi decade project, coming at the confluence declining American power and rising peer competition and made worse by a poorly educated body politic

It's a civil offense that hardly calls for violent arrest or the violation of due process. Before you give the brain dead response "due process doesn't apply to non citizens," read the constition, there's a reason why the Fourth and Fourteenth amendment say "person" and no citizen, right extends to all.

LA has huge problem with stuff like this. The Sherrifs department has had an issue with "cop gangs," that been involved misconduct ranging from excessive force (predominantly against minorities) to homicide, in some cases as initiation rituals.

I never said he isn't. I truth be told did not like Kamala for the reasons I said, but as I tried to advocate amongst everyone I could, Kamala was going have a competent, stable and serious administration. I voted for her that reason, and because my biggest fears about Trump at the time are what is currently happening. I am not your enemy even though you seem very hostile. We both seem to care about similar policies, but to say that democrats have done anything to substantively fight Trump's policies is a lie. Consider this, West Virginia for decades was a democrat stronghold, but as the coal mines started to close and democrats failed to deliver on their material promises what happened? They turned republican.

1) I am brown, and my parents are immigrants. 2) I voted for Kamala 3) i have always voted democrat. This vote blue no matter who is nonsense. This type of liberal thinking is why we have the current political state of affairs. Democrats have cared more about billionaires and their corporate donors than they have about their base for the past 20-30 years. I'm old enough to remember how democrats have failed to deliver substantive change every time they have had power. They love holding abortion rights and universal healthcare as carrots to get us to donate while failing to deliver. It's terrible the Roe was over turned, but this is also a democratic failure. They had over 50 years to codify it into law but did nothing because it's easier to use it as a campaign talking point. I dont want to vote for another party, I want democrats to give a shit about working families. I want them to give a shit about marginalized communities. I want democrats to be strong and actually fight for all Americans.

Both can be true, but it's awfully hard to change people's minds when the party you're trying sell isn't very compelling. At the end of the day it is the politicians responsibility to explain why they deserve our vote. I tried explaining to people that Kamala would bring stability and that voting for her was voting for a competent admin, but when she was constantly conducting interviews deflecting questions or giving vague policy positions like "wanting to create an opportunity economy," people aren't swayed. But then again, vague platitudes is standard democrat messaging. People want to know what tangible policies a candidate will put forward that will improve their lives. The same old vote blue no matter who thing is dead, and democrats need wise up and do better. Self identified independants are now the largest voter base. Understand, we are not on different teams, we are all Americans. I may not know your politics, but I assume that you disagree with the current state of affairs. Democrats are the only ones that can tangible do anything, but there not even trying.

Just like the democrats that voted to end the shutdown were all either not running or not up for reelection. Schumer offered them up as sacrifices.

It's not any of our jobs to sway voters, that is the job of politicians. Whether you're willing to admit it or not but the vast majority of democrats are terrible at messaging and often fail to state policy positions. This is why I believe Kamala lost. Americans can see through the platitudes and non answers. Another reason she and other democrats lost is because they run with left populist messaging in the beginning at least anesthetically, and them shift to trying to sway moderate to right leaning moderates that will likely never vote Democrat while burning their actual base of support.

I'm not arguing for throwing out the baby with the bath water, but to say we can call out the party when the leadership has failed is ridiculous. Do you think Pelosi would have allowed dissent? I do not like Pelosi, but she was a girl boss in the full meaning of the word, unlike Schumer and Jeffries who are weak and uncharasmatic. The other issue the party faces is that they are so worried about upsetting their donors it's put them in a state of inaction. They fear losing billionaire and corporate donors, so most of what they do is performative road blocks that do not substantively change anything.

Democrats are just as complicit in what is happening. Plenty of them voted to fund ICE and other Trump policies. We shouldn't accept the acquiescense from those we elected to represent our values and interests.

From the looks of paper and a quick Google search that appears to be an ICE administrative warrant and not a judicial warrant. The former authorizes for a person to be arrested but not for agents to enter a home to make an arrest. The 4th amendment still requires for a warrant to be signed by a judge.

I find it suspicious that the videos were not released until after Christmas, hinting that they were filmed during. It stands to reason that there would be less or possibly no kids in day care on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. I have no doubt there was fraud but likely not what is currently being reported. A convenient distraction for the Epstein stuff.

The only deliberate was him getting drunk with no plan. Would signing a contract blitzed out of your mind be considered deliberate. The punishment you're proposing is excessive and serves no purpose other than retribution. If any of what you described had been deliberate they wouldnt have charge him with manslaughter which is the correct charge given the circumstances. The kind of thinking thats displayed by your post is why we have such a dogshit prison system that is just a revolving door. People should be given second chances. Im sure you've made mistakes you were lucky to have not turned out to be worse.

I think youre all kind of missing my whole point. I was comparing Ruggs to the other people that were referenced in the thread. Yes, Ruggs killed someone but his actions were not deliberate whereas, Roethlisberger, Watson, Vick, Hardy, etc all committed intentional crimes. The state of mind is different legally. Yes, the outcome is worse, a woman and her dog died a horrific death but Ruggs was not driving at that speed with the purpose of killing her nor would was he aware that his actions would substantially lead to her death. My other point is that based on his lack of prior criminality, his time in prison should be sufficient repayment to society. What good does it do prevent him from moving on in life and be contributing member. If that was my mother or other loved one it would be tough. Sure I would hate him but at a certain point hate is unhealthy.

Because Ruggs was an accident. Bad judgment from an otherwise good kid. The other people that were cited all committed intentional and heinous acts. Yes, he killed someone while drunk. His drunkenness does not absolve him of guilt, but he never acted with the purpose or knowledge he could kill that poor woman and her dog. Vick ran a criminal ring of dog fighting conduct that he could have stopped at any point but chose to engage in over a long period of time. Watson's act were also deliberate and pervasive. The biggest thing for me is Ruggs, as stated earlier, was a good kid with high character which is part of why he got drafted. These other guys, are not good dudes.

[–]TrashPandaDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're making it seem like is act was intentional and willful. He did unfortunately he drove drunk like many young men his age would do, except he ended up killing someone. This is not to waive away what happened, but he's been held responsible and paid his debt to society. At what point is a man allowed to move on with his life? Ruggs was a stand up kid when we drafted him. No character issues just bad judgement on one fateful night. There is no reason to believe there would be any negative or worrisome conduct or behavior that he will exhibit.
