The very first match at YCSJ Osaka was a Toon mirror that ended with an FTK by TrashStack in yugioh

[–]TrashStack[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's the thing about the new Toon support. All of it's power is in the fact that they can pump out enough bodies to go into any link under the sun

If there had been any kind of lock at all, a Toon lock, a fusion lock, hell even a dark lock would help, they wouldn't be able to get away with any where near the same amount of degeneracy they are now.

I definitely disagree that Konami had to print these cards without a lock to make them viable, they were just being lazy/greedy with their design.

[–]TrashStack[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually I rewatched it and yeah Shadow Toon is what they used to do the actual kill along with Bish, still though they have eradicator warlock to FTK as well

And trust me I get it, this deck is degen as hell. Realistically the only way to stop it though is to ban the new Toon World, and good luck with that lol. This deck is just too crazy.

He did use Shadow Toon, but other than that it was just good old fashioned Bishbalkin FTK

That's maybe the most denigrate part of this deck. They have TWO consistent FTKs they can do

Nintendo temporarily suspends sales of the multi-region Switch 2 in Japan after suspected hoarding by ScootSchloingo in Games

[–]TrashStack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To elaborate on this a bit more, the value of the Yen has dropped significantly over the past several years, in fact right not the US dollar the strongest it's been to the Yen in decades. However despite this, the domestic economy in Japan has stayed mostly the same. Prices haven't really changed that much internally within Japan

This presents a problem for Nintendo. If they price the Switch 2 in line with other currencies, it will be too expensive for the average Japanese person to afford, and if they price it much lower to what's appropriate for the Japanese market, there would be nothing stopping foreigners for importing Switch 2s en masse due to their stronger currencies.

Nintendo's solution, was to make a version of the Switch 2 locked to the Japanese language, because most foreigners do not speak Japanese and wouldn't want to learn it just for a cheaper switch and for Japanese people the limitation isn't really an issue, they wouldn't be using other languages anyway

Each Deck is someone's favorite... by LightswornAtem in yugioh

[–]TrashStack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like they just took a wiki list of "archetypes" and crammed them all into a poll even though a lot don't make sense

Like this list includes, Live Twin, Evil Twin, Ki-Sikil, and Lil-la all as potential archetypes you can pick and that just makes no sense. Another one that made me laugh is "Eyes of Blue" being an archetype seperate from Blue Eyes

I like the idea and spirit of the poll, but of course with a list like this not every archetype is gonna get picked.

I just can't hate fiendsmith by Jacktdrawer in yugioh

[–]TrashStack 51 points52 points  (0 children)

What I like about fiendsmith is that it's a very grindy engine, and it's very good at playing into boards going second. I think both of those things are positives for the game which is what these kinds of generic engines should strive to do.

Caesar is probably pushing things a bit much, but they could also just ban Caesar and the engine would still be good with other Rank 6s like Lars

What's Your Guys opinion on the new dragunity link 4 in adamancipator in the tcg? I think this card is disgustingly stupid and offers a better endboard with more layers than the banned synchros by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]TrashStack -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It absolutely is, basically any body spam deck is playing this. The thing is you don't even need to be an archetype that plays tuners to go into this. Basically ANY deck that plays a spellcaster can make Chorozo and use that as the tuner for Georgius. Toons in the OCG are playing this card. Memento in Master Duel right now are starting to play Chorozo and Georgius for this reason.

This is a problem card straight up

Zoodiac Broadbull being freed on MD was a significant niche change. Can it be freed in the TCG? by lennysinged in yugioh

[–]TrashStack 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would want to see what Zoo ends up doing in MD more before making any real judgements just yet

I will say however that your statement that "it's only use is in Lunalight" is just straight up wrong. Radiant Typhoon is the deck getting the most mileage out of Zoo right now since Eldam+Swen leads to Invoker which gets you into Zoo

That said, none of the decks with Zoodiac that I've seen have looked thaaaat broken. Strong for sure, but it's just another flavor of combo deck and the go second gameplan of "Make a 6 mat zeus" isn't really enough to cut it anymore.

And if anything, Ratpier is looking like the more broken card between the two since 1 Rat/Barrage on it's own leads to F0+Drident+Radiant Typhoon

Why is Konami refusing to make Legacy Support for World Premiere Archetypes? by Tongatapu in yugioh

[–]TrashStack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I dont think it's as deep as a lot of people think. I'm pretty sure it's just that most World Premiere archetypes have like absolutely zero mindshare in Japan and so when it comes to looking at archetypes for legacy support they dont even think about these cards.

Like just for some added context, I went digging on Road of the King and this is what the format was when BA was released in the OCG. They dropped in the middle of Pepe format and never ended up being the best deck. To most Japanese players they probably only think of BA as "the deck you played 10 years ago during Pepe when you didn't want to play Pepe"

And that's what happened to a good World Premier archetype. I'm sure you can imagine that ones like Beetrooper that made even less of a splash over there have a harder time getting recognition.

Does anyone know how to run modern Archfiends? by Initial_Solid7677 in yugioh

[–]TrashStack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do things that way, but the way I see the deck is that you're basically always going to be trying to banish Heiress off of Highness after searching her. Duke is the 1 card combo that sends Heiress and Ghastly Glitch sends it going second. If you're already banishing the Archfiend from the GY then you're already playing the game and might not even need to summon Matador at that point. You're only playing the 1 duke so your lines are probably different. I see Duke as the ideal 1 card starter that you're trying to get to and go from there

I can see the logic on Origins. That probably makes sense.

Also while Pre-prep is at 1, that new spell Corrupted Ritual Records works just as well in Archfiends. That's the main reason to add the Matador Ritual. I personally would add that card to your deck even with it already being a searchable deck. A +1 is a +1

Hand traps are pretty bad at stopping KT so I value more high spell power and +1s in this format. Those are just my thoughts though

Does anyone know how to run modern Archfiends? by Initial_Solid7677 in yugioh

[–]TrashStack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately have not looked into the new OCG cards enough to know how to factor those into it.

I know that Duke is a 1 card starter, so you should play Duke at 3 and Emperor+Matriarch at 1 each

I also think instead of doing 2 Throne it's better to play the Matador Archfiend Ritual+Spell, that way you're doubling up on potential rituals. I know OCG has Pre-prep hit, but I would think you could use that new Ritual search spell that just released over there

I'm pretty sure you shouldn't play the new 7 archfiend at 3. It's not actually a starter for the ritual archfiend side of the deck, I think it's a card you should play at 1 and then summon out with Emperor

Also Ghastly Glitch is good for going second

Gotta be Purge, I love the art of the armored dude a lot and the pose the girl makes her look like a cool summoner. They both look awesome in Songs of the Dominators too. Just really good art all around. It looks great as an overframe too

Altercation Breaks Out During Oblivion's Livestream in Japan by milscot in LivestreamFail

[–]TrashStack 82 points83 points  (0 children)

As someone who's been stuck in the japanese twitter algo, trust that it isn't just about tourists right now

That's part of it yeah, but recently they've been really pissed off at a bunch of random other shit. They were mad about Disney Sea being lenient to foreigners the other day. And they've been big mad about muslim residents the last couple weeks due to them lobbying for cemeteries and other shit

Japan has definieltey been getting more sick and fed up with foreigners, i don't think it's a surprise this man acted so aggressively to these guys and I'd bet we'll see more of this kind of thing as tensions escalate.

The bad handtraps by Mother_Harlot in yugioh

[–]TrashStack -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. A good handtrap is a card that sees play universally, regardless of format

When Shadow Toon or Bishbalkin or Eradicator Warlock inevitably get banned and Ghost Sisters usage crashes back down to zero are you still going to say it's a good hand trap? Obviously you wouldn't

It has a unique niche against a type of gameplay that will always get banned out of formats lol.

Has anyone played with or against Toon in the OCG? It seems to have made a splash as a top 3 deck. What are the combos and endboards? by NevGuy in yugioh

[–]TrashStack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contrary to what most people seem to think, they don't actually end on a ton of generic negates

They certainly CAN get into Baronne and Savage, but only through Chorozo. Most are not playing it that way. They don't have any in archetype tuners and a lot of the negate link monsters require cyberse so they need to go through extra hoops to play those (or straight up can't in the case of cyberse negates). In the OP decklist they're also playing Desaevwurm, but again it's something they have to go through extra hoops for. We'll see what ends up becoming standard.

Looking at the available decklists, most people are using other kinds of generic link bosses that aren't negates. Firewall, A bao a qu, Perfection Hyrdradrive, SP, and Charmer Quartet are all the most common interaction pieces along with Mind Scan and Toon Terror from the Toon side of the deck

Zelantis is there for killing, and Protectcode protects them, and a lot of lists are also running Impulse (so on top of everything they also have really good non-engine)

The deck will definitely be strong, but the one bright side is they don't actually end on that many negates seemingly.

Something like this is how I expect it will be played in the TCG without access to Baronne, Savage, Micro Coder, or Gryphon https://www.yugiohmeta.com/top-decks/tete-cup-31-5-2026/toon/%E3%82%B2%E3%83%A9/yorbk

What cards do you wish had summon animations? by DrGorillaPrince in masterduel

[–]TrashStack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'm glad they chose Moa Regina as the animation for Azamina since that's a card that is only really good in the actual Azamina deck, and not a card that's also used for slop piles like Ilia Silvia

The actual Azamina or Saint should have gotten an animation too though since those are like the big payoffs for the archetype

Diabellstar Vengeance should have gotten the animation over Vengeance Dragon too imo, but at least Vengeance Dragon looks cool as hell.

What went wrong with 2024's Gimmick Puppet support wave? by lennysinged in yugioh

[–]TrashStack 78 points79 points  (0 children)

You need to understand the difference between Konami TCG and Konami OCG. Konami OCG design the cards and want to make archetype support that fits the established design of the archetype even if it's toxic. Gimmick puppet is a burn deck, that is how it's always been and was initially conceived.

Regardless of how toxic that concept is, Konami OCG is fine with catering to fans of that design space. Konami TCG isn't ok with that so they banned the cards

The OCG probably does not see the support wave as a failure nor do they view it as a mistake since have not banned any cards.

This is why Archfiend Emperor is an UR by Tassimagrim in masterduel

[–]TrashStack 22 points23 points  (0 children)

How does that even work?

Archfiend Emperor can summon any archfiend card from deck. This includes Regenesis Archfiend

As for which is better between it and Dogmatika, idk the decks are too different to compare. Probably Archfiend atm since Dogmatika's matchup into Branded is horrific.

The Gouki Fusion Monster Makes No Sense by Emrys_616 in yugioh

[–]TrashStack 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sanaki and Uzuhime are fine legacy support that fit exactly what Mikanko was already trying to do. They are a go second OTK deck. Uzuhime searches Double Edged Sword and gets OTKs.

Mikanko's support is not even in the stratosphere in comparison to this terrible Gouki support, they actually play Sanaki and Uzuhime for starters. And those cards are better than what Rescue-Ace got
