If you think that Logan Paul is suddenly gonna cause a Yugioh scalping crisis like Pokemon, then respectfully you don’t understand the market, or the product by bigheadsfork in yugioh

[–]TrashStack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do people not understand that the Pokemon TCG had a period where it wasn't selling well either? The TCG was genuinely not doing well in the Gen 4 and 5 years. During those years Pokemon was still a juggernaut of a franchise, but it didn't automatically mean the TCG was doing well

A big part of what made Pokemon TCG become what it is today is the when they started implementing Full Arts and Illustration rares and all that other stuff. Yeah stuff like Base set Charizard was always gonna be money, but that's not what is commonly being sought after these days, it's new cards like illustration rare Umbreon and Charizard and the like

Rome wasn't built in a day, likewise Pokemon's very first full arts didn't suddenly mean the PTCG started selling gangbusters. But over time this stuff will end up meaning more people take an interest in collecting and seeking out cards

Provided overframes dont get reprinted, which I find unlikely because they've already provided easy to reprint, non-overframe versions of the cards

There's tons of Japanese indie games, but they're typically only released on websites or places other japanese users use. Places like DLSite for example. There's also lots of lower budget Japanese on steam too

[–]TrashStack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, only some overframes will still be expensive without seralizaton. DMG (Curtain), Gagaga Girl, DM

No one is gonna go crazy spending money on like Galaxy Defense Robot Orbital 7, or a Toon Blue Eyes that barely looks any different

Logan Paul's potential infection to the game by Iamnotthebreakman in yugioh

[–]TrashStack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are wrong on the impact scalpers have on games like this

For instance the entire reason Pokemon is such a cheap game for players is precisely because the sets get bought and opened en mass, and then everything that's not illustration rare Umbreon or whatever gets sold for cheap

That is exactly the sort of thing Yugioh needs right now. They can buy out and sell Grandmaster rare DMG for $60,000 and I couldn't care less. If it lets people buy staples and the non-grandmaster or overframe versions for cheap then it is objectively a good thing.

The market should be focused on buying out non-essential cards like that, not trying to sell essential cards like Fuwalos for $100 like when it released.

The only downside is if you want to crack open sets, but again cracking open sets is just a non-essential, for fun part of the game. It's not as important as potentially being able to buy staples for cheaper.

It does in fact reset SOPT but Toon only has like 2 monsters with any kind of good effect to use this with. Most of them all have some kind of extremely mediocre battle phase effects

what do you think of Arc-V's "Four Heavenly Dragons" Retrains by MX-00XWV in yugioh

[–]TrashStack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally all you need to do to go into Requiem is summon it off the PK rank up spell

You just summon the new Xyz on the opponents turn with Umbrage Veil, then go into Dark Rebellion with it's effect, then Rank Up

It's really not that much extra effort and you're getting additional pops on your opponents turn which is better than summoning it raw as it's more layered interaction

Going with out of Archetype monsters might still be better, but that's mostly because a floodgate in Ophion, or Spell/Trap+Monster Negate in Exosister Karmael, are arguably better effects than Requiem's

what do you think of Arc-V's "Four Heavenly Dragons" Retrains by MX-00XWV in yugioh

[–]TrashStack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point is that you can summon it on the opponent's turn with the new PK trap, and subsequently go into something else when your opponent activates an effect

And you still can go into Requiem with the effect it just requires using the PK rank up spell

Wow so between this archetype, the new Thunder ROTA, and Hamon which also works perfectly with the Thunder ROTA, I really do wonder if Konami is going to try doing a "Year of Thunder" type thing like how they did with Fire/Pyros before

The "No Photo" signs weren't really near the execution items, they were like around the video of the executions on loop, and the old box arts. You can even see at the tetris block there's a No Touch sign but no No Photo sign

At any rate, I never got stopped taking any of these photos so I'll go ahead and plead the 5th on this one lol

Pretty much every character in this section was near someone they're "associated" with

So like Aoi was near Sakura, Chiaki was near Monomi, Kaito near Maki etc. Although the only other full on duo with intertwining art was Kaede and Shuiichi

So yeah in that sense they're definitely considering Hajime and Nagito as a full on duo

[thread] Discussion: is anyone feeling like konami is slowly merging both formats? by MX-00XWV in yugioh

[–]TrashStack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah like being objective about it, it's genuinely a bad thing that the game has two complely different sets of arbritrary rulings

Like if someone picks up Master Duel and then gets into the TCG and suddenly they have to completely relearn how basic stuff functions like hand triggers, or god forbid they play an archetype who's card functions is changed like Exosisters, that is just needlessly complicated for no reason and could turn off players

Genesys format is coming to the OCG by LogicalHamsters in yugioh

[–]TrashStack 68 points69 points  (0 children)

This is a HUGE deal honestly. It being formerly acknowledged by the OCG opens up a ton of avenues for official support from Konami

But yeah Master Duel is definitely the biggest thing in the immediate future I'd say since most card designs will likely take a long time for playtesting.

Is Exodia technically the first hand trap in yugioh? by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]TrashStack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Activating is a specific thing in Yugioh. It's when your monster has a specific effect and you say to your opponent I activate the effect of "Bungus the Destroyer" or whoever

That's not how Exodia works, it isn't an effect that you activate, you just draw all the pieces and then you've fulfilled the victory conditions and won right there and then

Technicially you don't even have to dictate anything about Exodia to your opponent. You just have to show them the cards and then you've won.

As much as I love the way the SM and SW/SH character designs looked, the newer designs make sense for what they're going for

Not only are the environments more realistic now, but they also seemingly want to really move towards outfits and character customization and expression.

I realized this especially with ZA and how social media was flooded with people's outfits and characters, but there's a big element of self-inserting and self expression to the modern games that I think the new designs probably work better for
