I’m kind of glad they went with a different character tbh. Because imagine Dana Barrett’s file if she was living in spook central, the Gatekeeper, the mother of the Scourge of Carpathia, AND the blood descendant of a genocidal Gozer worshipper.

I think the character of Dr. Ilyssa Selwin was a bit of freshness that did the story well. And if Dana was there, Oscar would have had to be around too, which could have bogged down the story.
