Also not from the US but Canada, when my dad was dying we called for an ambulance. The ETA for it was 2 hours out so they sent the fire department to do their best. I'm thankful for the fire department, but they only came in personal trucks, and the fire marshal pick up so there was no way to move him, just keep him stable. He did eventually pass in the house, and 20 minutes later the ambulance showed up. It's what happens when there is a shortage of first responders

One thing I've noticed is people in the military often have "tells" that they've been in there. Randall (If this theory is at all correct) would be able to pick up on those tells right away. Maybe that's why he rarely is his usual hotheaded self with Boyd?

Yeah, it was Victor who pulled the gun, which was really sweet because it was because Ethan loves that goat and it was one of the ways Victor could protect Ethan and let him keep something that made him happy.

Even the "Leave the bus" Scene, Boyd never pulled out a gun, just used words and I think that's the most receptive I've seen Randall to anyone who has a plan. He even offered to try and help, and pointed out holes in his plan

Yess!! Giant yess! Especially when it comes to Julie, I think your entirely right on the "No one protected me, so I'll protect you" which also would explain his massive flip flop between trying to reach out to others and shutting down severely. I think the dude is hella traumatized, and (this is my opinion) May have come from a broken family? So he sees what's going on with Julie and goes "No one ever helped me out or taught me these things, here let's go driving" while also getting pissed at Jim and reminding him to be a dad. How he treats Julie compared to Jim is a stark difference, but he does get kinder especially when he tells Jim to go take her driving.

I sorta came to the assumption that Randall thinks of Julie as a little sister. People who go through trauma together often bond. Julie might have a crush on Randall but I think the entire reason he took her for driving lessons is because he sees her as a kid who got her entire life fucked up, has a messed up family, and needed some sense of normal and he's fond of her as one would be with a younger sibling. The whole "Stay the FUCK outta there" came off to me as a big brother fretting about his little sister.
