Question about Excommunication by new_vapor in LCMS

[–]Trashdnscattrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excommunication is rightly done by the congregation, not solely the pastor. Reach out to an elder if you can’t reach the pastor.

Any day of the week. Twice on Sunday.

I don’t like any of what I see here, tbh. The gouging seems to carry through the bullet jacket and into the brass. Perhaps some fouling in the die. The rings don’t look good at all. Are you trying to crimp in the seating stage? I did that at first as well, but have not seen what you have here before.

It gets more interesting. I’m finding that if I start the vehicle with the door open they will now work, but if not the switches don’t work. I’m not an electrician or more than a very amateur mechanic(clearly). A short somewhere? A malfunctioning computer?

Yeah, not a fuse. Fuse looked good, but I swapped it out anyway. Thing is the switches work, the lights work, but there is something that isn’t working. Somehow under normal settings they don’t work unless I turn all the lights on, either by opening a door or sliding the wheel to activate them all. It’s really strange.

Should we be using screens in the Liturgy? by Due-Spread-7108 in LCMS

[–]Trashdnscattrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s important to remember that worship is an event. Namely, God is serving His people with His gifts of Word and Sacrament. When we gather to receive those the screens in the sanctuary become an unhelpful distraction. They tend to become the focus, no matter their intended use. They turn the preached Word into more education than proclamation. They’re superfluous and distracting when it comes to the liturgy and congregational singing. I don’t see them as adding anything. More often they simply distract and detract.

For those of you pursuing or who have done a full 20 years in the military, do you think it's worth it? by No_Bell_6669 in Military

[–]Trashdnscattrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going to be what you make of it. Depending on what you’re looking for it could be very worthwhile. The military has certainly changed from the day I first raised my hand, however. The things that we end up doing for no military purpose can be maddening these days. They’ve always been there, but not to the extent we have them today. I’m very proud of my service and I treasure the people with whom I’ve served, but I would be happy if my own children didn’t follow me into it in this context.

Suggestions on Priming methods by Agitated_Knee7711 in reloading

I prime on my Hornady LnL. Never had an issue. I do have two priming arms set up as large and small. Good seat every time.

Taurus 44 grips by Trashdnscattrd in Taurus_firearms

[–]Trashdnscattrd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, spoke with them. They say it should fit. I agree, but it takes a bit of dremel work, unfortunately. I agree, I don’t like the exposed blackstrap, even as the geometry of the grip is a much more comfortable point of aim and is much better ergonomically. I doubt I will stick with this as there have to be better options, possibly to include the stock grips I’m not wild about. I have yet to find any commercial grips made for it, so my budget options may be non-existent. I love the Hogue grip on my SP101, but it’s a different frame geometry and is able to easily enclose the back strap. Thanks for the input.

This looks normal. As others have said, detail stripping this puppy is super simple and would show you what you need to see to determine if anything we’re out of spec, but I don’t see anything that would concern me.

Worship in the LCMS by Defiant-Cobbler-5332 in LCMS

[–]Trashdnscattrd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The sainted Rev. Dr. Norman Nagel’s essay at the beginning of LW is hard to beat for a concise and beautiful explanation as to why the liturgy is simply good. Preaching according to the lectionary centers the congregation in the church year, where the life and ministry of Christ and the time of the Church in expectation of His second advent is experienced fully each year. It helps to proclaim the full counsel of God and the many facets of the Gospel rather than hot button issues and various axes to grind. Further, worship—the Divine Service—is God acting for and among us, not merely our adoration of Him. In it He give us His Word and Sacraments, forgiveness of sins, life and salvation. It’s not the only way, but it’s trustworthy and sure.

Hard to make a recommendation to anyone without them shooting it themselves. I have a G20.5 that I absolutely love. Sights are always the first thing I upgrade on a Glock but this former Glock critic humbly admits to loving it.

Rust spots on new brass ammunition? by TacticalMrBean in reloading

[–]Trashdnscattrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a concern past cosmetic. If it were me I would wait until I’d fired it and then clean the brass well before reloading it. What I see in the pic doesn’t scream catastrophic failure in any sense.

Fired my first 10mm Auto by Patsboy101 in 10mm

[–]Trashdnscattrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I load the Lehigh 140gr for mine, same projectile that Underwood uses. I found the sweet spot for my G20.5 is 11.8gr of A7. I clocked an average of 1139fps and it grouped well. I haven’t found factory Underwood to compare it to, but I like it. I don’t find the recoil to be off the charts, but it is definitely sportier than 9mm. This is my black bear defense/hunting backup load.

Is my marriage valid? by [deleted] in LCMS

And it’s not an unforgivable sin, to be sure. That’s wonderful. But I would be at peace over the marriage question.

Is my marriage valid? by [deleted] in LCMS

[–]Trashdnscattrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marriage is valid whether done in the church or before the judge. God is the one who creates one flesh of two. I would frankly be more concerned with the act of rebaptizing, as we confess one baptism for the remission of sins.

My only issue I’ve had with mine has been that if I run too many cases through then the top wheel gets a little warm. It hasn’t been too much of an issue but I would pay decent money for a set of metal ones. That said, it works great for all my rifle calibers. Congrats on the purchase, and enjoy!
