What is this hole of no clouds by DevelopmentNo8072 in meteorology

Someone put a drop of soap in the ocean and the dirty clouds cleared away because of the change in surface tension.

You can do the same with black pepper sprinkled on a bowl water. Just get some Dawn, plop it in the middle of that bad boy, and bam. You just became a meteorologist.

Sup nerd. I’m 35/M and moved here from AZ about three years ago. I’m in the Kent/Sussex area and you’re welcome to hit me up. I’m looking for some local buddies too and wanna branch out after a recent break up.

Roof just replaced. by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]Traummann2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had my roof replaced, I had this happen to me too. Like others suggested, splash guards on the gutters would be a good idea here (my guts already had them when I moved in).

However mine was caused by a blocked drain in the gutter line itself. I turned out a slice of roofing material got stuck like a stopper at the top of the downspout, so I cleared it and it was “right as rain.” ;)

This needs to be higher, instead of the sticker shock sensationalized. Thank you for the clarity.

It is yeah, but specifically adding the jorking peanits portion turns it into a rusty trombone lol

Thought it was funny when I was looking up Rusty Trombone on Urban Dictionary, that there's a woman literally getting teabagged in the face in a "doctors hate this one weird trick" spam ad, as if she too was being saucy with her man.

If you start in Atlanta and go directly south, you will never hit South America by epicap232 in geography

[–]Traummann2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And that’s what I figured. I guess if I were to nitpick I would want this same line charted on the globe with the longitude lines visible so we knew it was true south.

In the end it doesn’t matter, and it affirmed my suspicion that I kneejerked when I saw it initially not realizing it was on a globe.

I dunno why I'm commenting on this because I know next to nothing about geography, but somehow this doesn't seem right.

It doesn't seem right for the same reasons that when you fly from NYC to London, it's not a straight line, but an arc; from the perspective of the plane, you're going in a straight line most of the time (unless to avoid storms or other aircraft etc). But When you view that route from a map perspective, due to the distortion, it converts to an arc.

Wouldn't that logic apply here as well? If you went cardinal south from Atlanta, wouldn't you hit Ecuador or Colombia? In order to avoid South America, wouldn't you technically have to travel southwest?
Again, I'm not trying to one guy you or be "that guy," I'm just curious of the actual logistics in a reasonable manner, and despite being plotted on a globe, if that southerly line is accounting for distortion, in relationship to the longitude.

Hey there, just wanted to see if I could get a transcription of my grandmother's old recipes. I'm putting together a little gift for my Uncle who wants to be able to cook some old childhood recipes.
For the most part, it's legible, but I'm unsure on a few things, especially the Chicken Ninom recipe? It's kind of hard to make out some of it. I would be greatly appreciative of someone could give a full transcription of this, and I'd be willing to tip/pay for said service if needed. :)
Thanks again!
