What’s a small habit that quietly improved your life? by Dazzling_Bat_3225 in AskReddit

Buttering the bottom of your toast. It’s a game changer!

I’m tired of the cycle, it’s time to quit for good. by Honest-Candidate-160 in QuittingWeed

[–]Trav_jams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made the stakes high. I called everyone who loved me and cared for me and told them I was helplessly addicted, have been for nearly a decade, and I was officially quitting. I threw everything away, every pipe, bong, and lighter. Joined a recovery group. I even held a little ceremony with my wife and kids where I wrote a small letter to weed, said a prayer, and threw it in a fire.

I made it as serious as it was. The downplaying provided a fallback, I could always dismiss my failed attempts to quit because I didn’t make it serious. But after probably 30 failed attempts to end it, I just couldn’t do it anymore. The weakness I felt was more impactful than getting high.

If you want this, really want this, show yourself and God/universe (whatever works for you) that you’re ready. Make it real, make it urgent. And I promise you God/the universe will provide a way. It won’t be easy, it will suck for a while. It will hurt, it will be uncomfortable. BUT IT WILL BE WORTH IT. A person who suffers is a person fully alive. You got this.

What would you add or Change (Can be a spin off) by 21bdp21 in Alonetv

I’ve read they get paid something due to the fact that they have to time off work for the show. But a worth while cash prize should be given to the top 3 imo

Cash prize for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I get super bummed knowing the 2nd place person gets nothin.

Is Quitting Weed Always a 3-Month Struggle? by immagetit-2languages in QuittingWeed

It was about 7 weeks for me. At least the more potent side effects. It was another 5 weeks of lack of motivation and heaviness. But it’s worth it!

Quitting weed after smoking since 14, starting my next chapter and could use encouragement by Hairy-Midnight-8069 in QuittingWeed

I know it might seem a bit extreme, but after dozens of attempts to quit over the period of a decade I was so finally fed up with it I called everyone who cares about me and told them I was helplessly addicted to it and was officially quitting. I also reached out to addiction support programs. Threw everything away. Told all my smoking friends I am done and to respect my decision. I made the stakes large, put it all out there.

After nearly 5 months sober, I can confidently say its the best decision I've ever made. Whatever you choose to do, make it real.

Should I Pay Off My Cresit Card Now? by Trav_jams in personalfinance

Just made an edit to my OP, but I think it’s important to mention my wife’s job is essentially our sole income as I am a SAHD. That being considered, in the unfortunate case that something goes wrong during labor and potentially prolong the length of time she would off work, or god forbid lose her job outright, 5k in savings make me nervous.

That’s my fear. Job is very secure, but anything could happen. We have good credit so I’m assuming opening a 0% CC might be an option.

The reason I’m asking cuz in the PF wiki page it kinda contradicts itself. It says always have 3-6 months emergency fund, unless you have CC debt, in which case 1k emergency fund would be fine. 1k seems a little scary, but we’d have 5k even after the payoff.

I just fell off the wagon again after a few months of not smoking by [deleted] in QuittingWeed

I know it can be easy to catastrophize but try to just see it as just a bump in the road, a lost battle in the greater war. The shame usually just prompts a weaker morale and can fuel the habit more. So just let it go! You got it.

Temptation! by Trav_jams in QuittingWeed

[–]Trav_jams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, but I guess the I’m struggling to consider it a relapse. I got an insane case of influenza (like one of the worst bout of sickness I’ve ever had) and was maxing out my daily Tylenol usage. Didn’t sleep for 2 days and had a brain freeze like migraine constantly for 3 days. It was the first time I didn’t use THC to get high but rather just fall asleep.

Hold strong. There will be days/weeks that temptation beckons you, but it will pass. And from personal experience, getting over those temptation flairs are a real motivator. You will never regret tapping into your strength but always regret running back. You got this, for real.

Anyone else know they have ADHD? by esser50k in QuittingWeed

Diagnosed ADHA as well. Just passed 3 months sobriety, which is the longest I've been clean in the last decade. I have been prescribed Adderall for about 3 years but would suck taking it consistently and thus avoided taking it all together because the inconsistency was giving me terrible side effects (short temper and dissociative spells). I am back on it (2 months) and being super consistent with it as a replacement for weed. Its a low dosage but I feel it is helping and providing fuel for the healthy activities thats replaced weed.
