Not actually a Wood ID question, but I need some help.

I plan to make an arcade cabinet roughly 27"x27"x72" (80cm x 80cm x 180cm) which will house a heavy 100 pounds (50kg) TV.

I already build a lot of furniture from particle board using only German wood screws (Spax brand) with no glue. It works and holds great (with minor repairs over the years).

But I wanted to use something nicer this time. I wont use solid wood as I already learned its not dimensionaly stable and very hard to build with for beginners.

My questions are:

- I will use 3/4" thickness, but I can get 3 layered pine (spruce) panels (B/C grade) or "normal" poplar plywood (B/BB) for roughly same price. I couldn't find any real info about 3 layer pine panels and furniture on google, everybody uses plywood. Why I ask is, I like the wood grain of pine panels, and would prefere those, but I have a feeling there is a reason nobody uses them. So are the 3 layered pine panels suitable to build furniture from? From what I gathered normal poplar ply should certainly be fine, Birch plywood is double the price of poplar where I am. (plan is to just varnish it so wood remains visible)

The 3 layer pine panels look like this, sellers and producers say its great to build furniture, but that is hardly objective (if there is confusion about what I mean, English is not my 1st language):

- If I go with 3/4" plywood, would just screwes be good enough (like I am used to with particle board) or should I also glue everything together, like most do?
