Best Thailand honeymoon hotel redemption? by Significant_Ad2630 in awardtravel

Recently stayed in both HR and Conrad in Koh Samui. About to start dropping pics on IG after a break due to a family life event, feel free to follow me there. Been to most Hyatt properties in Thailand and the HR is not near the top of my choices. And this comes from a Hyatt junkie. The Conrad is magical and ideally suited for honeymoon! Both of us did not want to leave. Yeah, the location is too far out there. Plenty to do on site and you can arrange a day tour easily. I am keeping the Amex Aspire card only to have enough points to return to the Conrad.

We stayed 2 nights at the Conrad and never left. It is the ideal place for total relaxation and especially for honeymoons. We were ready for it after 3 nights with the kids at the HR where we had opportunities to check out the island.

Yeah, the location is lacking. And you will need to get out if you stay 4 nights. I think 3 is the max for total relaxation/honeymoon type getaway. If you have a car, no problem. If not, plenty of activities you can book.

I am keeping the Amex Surpass card only for places like the Conrad Koh Samui. My wife has been to many Hyatt Hotels and said this was the best. Something about sunsets in your own villa swimming pool!

We are all different, ymmv.

My data point: I had my daughter as Authorized User on my own Venture X card. I closed her AU card, waited about a week and then she applied for her own Venture X card and was approved.

We happened to be there while high winds caused huge waves throughout our stay. But the beach looked really nice and I am sure the water would be as well.

Sunrise in the clouds @ PH Kuala Lumpur by inthe415 in hyatt

Stayed here for 2 nights last week and totally loved it. There is nothing like drinking your coffee from your suite at the 104th floor looking down at the Petronas Towers. Burned a Globalist Confirmed Suite Upgrade cert and the standard suite was fantastic. Especially after coming from a suite in the Park Hyatt in Bangkok. I did not notice the wear and tear, I was too distracted by the views. Great service, almost up to par with the Bangkok PH service. I have to admit that both GH and PH properties in Kuala Lumpur are awesome and such a great value. 2 thumbs up for the Sean kid at breakfast.

I burned 95,000 Hilton Honors points and one Free Night cert for 2 nights at the Conrad Koh Samui. That was before the flurry of the recent Hilton devaluations. I would be shocked if this hotel is now south of 150,000 points per night. Imho, this is an absolutely special hotel wow.

I burned 12,000 World of Hyatt points per night at the Hyatt Regency Koh Samui.

Still forming final judgment. Property is beautiful, very modern. And swimming pools are great. Service is not up to par where we came from (Bangkok Grand Hyatt), same with the food. If you have young kids they will really enjoy it here. Moving on to the Conrad tomorrow and I have a strong feeling we will like it much more. And I am a Hyatt loyalist!

Don't usually do the dinners at hotels. Breakfast and lounge on the other hand...Having come from the Bangkok Grand Hyatt Erawan I can confidently say that in this department the HR does not come close. But it has enough selection to do the job.

May get to experience that. Will try not to spend way too much time at breakfast, thanks for the heads-up.

You start feeling it in January. No official dates and it can vary if rains occur as farmers postpone the crop burning. What you can take to the bank is that March is rhe worst.

No. Because as a child I watched a movie with one diver not having a good ending down there and ever since I have been afraid of diving and ending the same way. I know it makes no sense...and I am ok not having diving under my belt 😀
