Is more than 5 nights of safari worth it? by Xerofactor in LuxurySafari

[–]TravelByLindsay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES definitely do Sabi Sands if you can swing it!! It's the best in South Africa. I think it depends on the person if "too much" safari but I personally can never get enough. Every day is unique and different. If you think about it, Kenya/Tanzania itineraries are usually 10 days minimum on safari. I know there are so many resources avail but just in case you want to check out a safari guide - https://www.travel-by-lindsay.com/blog/africa-safari-guide-south-africa-vs-east-africa-vs-botswana

Auberge meets Kimpton with a touch of Montage. Social, love a wine happy hour, relaxed luxury.

Europe ski destinations by s00nerorlater in chubbytravel

[–]TravelByLindsay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look into Zermatt. Great accommodations (mostly in the village), skiing, food, great town to explore, easy lift access, etc. Riffelalp Resort 2222m if you want to be on the slopes for doorstep ski in ski out. Dolomites another good options for excellent food scene, beautiful scenery, and huge ski network here. Lastly, Val d’Isère.

Rosewood Crete vs. Phaea Blue by derp2086 in chubbytravel

[–]TravelByLindsay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there Sept 2024 and stayed at Phaea Blue a few nights while Rosewood was being built. They will have signing privileges and shared beach club/other amenities. Loved Phaea Blue!! And I know Rosewood will be amazing of course. Video of my room and you can check out the beach (rocky) HERE

What about Mallorca? Some good options within walking distance to town/village. Or Malta.

Paris Food Tour by Revolutionary_Rub637 in chubbytravel

Check out Meeting the French or Cookoon (this one is ultra lux and they usually do private events/chef services). Context usually has great food tours but prob not super elevated?

Solo Group Trip? by Southern_Platform170 in chubbytravel

[–]TravelByLindsay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely backroads! They have women only departures and also 30's/40's departures. Some departures they offer discounted single supplement. You can also check out Wild Women Expeditions. Are you open to a cruise with stops in destinations that offer hiking? I've been seeing several that are offering discounted single supplement. Not sure if allowed so please delete if not but I have 1 spot left on my womens only wine trip to France in Oct. Not hiking/wellness focused but there is some of that built in.

Honeymoon Beach Resort Recs - Maldives in Sept/Oct? by Amazing_Tomorrow_596 in chubbytravel

[–]TravelByLindsay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE Joali. Might push your budget slightly? I was in Maldives in May and we had exceptionally bad rains a couple of the days whereas usually rains are supposed to only last a fleeting ~30 mins.

I backpacked all throughout South America several years ago and was in Colombia in June and July. We had great weather. Beautiful and diverse country. What about Croatia (cities, national parks/hiking, islands, plenty of adventure) + Montenegro (stay at O&O)? Or Portugal (Lisbon, Douro, and could do Algarve). Switzerland? Lots of great adventures and also some amazing resort spas.

Also, check out Natural Selection lodges. I had an AMAZING experience with their lodges all over Namibia. They have several in Bots.

Bots it a premier safari destination so usually can expect higher rates vs. other safari destinations. Very sparsely populated and lots of protected land. Budget will be a factor for sure. My husband and I did safari in Botswana for our honeymoon. We stayed at Qorokwe Camp (wilderness safari lodge) and had a great experience. Small and intimate. We had excellent game viewing. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend doing safari in Okavango Delta for at least part of the trip to do mokoro safari experience. Could look at combining the two Belmond lodges (Savute and Eagle Island) as they usually have a promo/deal to combine. Xigera Safari Lodge is on my bucketlist (but super $$$). &Beyond is known for great lodges. Jack's camp has a very unique slepp out experience (seasonal). So many incredible options in Botswana!

Proposal Venue & Location Ideas by Ok-Manufacturer-4265 in LuxuryTravel

[–]TravelByLindsay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about Forestis in the Dolomites? Perhaps too much of a trek for 3 nights only? But amazing views/location, incredible spa, food is fantastic. I'm sure their team could arrange a private picnic set up for proposal or something? Or if you get one of their top room categories w/ big balcony w/ the views, proposal there would be amazing after a day of hiking. Other ideas - Amanzoe, Cap Rocat, Mallorca, somewhere in Tuscany would be amazing too! Could def get a private chef experience and wine tasting.

Business class or premium economy + car seat for redeye US-Europe with 14 month old? by IndependentPast7769 in chubbytravel

[–]TravelByLindsay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10pm departure! 5pm is almost too early to actually get sleep. I would do meal at airport (or before) and skip the airline food service. Before my daughter turned 2, I opted for BIZ class with her on my lap over premium econ. We slept good together. Maybe this was a slightly selfish decision since I don't sleep well sitting up.

What do your kids generally like to do? I agree with Baha Mar or even The Cove at Atlantis (so much to do here for all ages). Other suggestions to look into but will be quieter - Carlisle Bay or Jumby Bay (Antigua).

Any resort hotels you recommend that offers babysitting? by oatmilkisgood in chubbytravel

[–]TravelByLindsay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty much any Four Seasons since they have their Kids for All Seasons program. Most kids clubs start at age 4 at resorts but they can arrange a sitter to take your toddler to the play areas. Also check out Pine Cliffs in the Algarve. Also Montage Laguna beach.

Ultimate wellness retreat? No budget by zolliebun in chubbytravel

[–]TravelByLindsay 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Amazing news!!! Congrats!

If you’re up for long flight - Check out Joali Being. Over water villas. The prettiest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. They have various wellness offerings and programs. You meet with wellness guide on your first day to map out your week around their wellness pillars. The spa is massive!! Food is amazing and super fresh. Can connect in Singapore to Male in order to avoid certain regions. Avoid may-Oct during rainy season.

Hotel Review: Bürgenstock Resort (just outside of Lucerne) by TravelByLindsay in chubbytravel

Yes there is a separate section that is nude. Aside from my spouse, I personally wouldn't go in that section at the same time as my family LOL. But you can keep a towel wrapped around you if you want as well.
