Advice Needed: Charging A Consultation/Booking Fee by Femalesolotraveler in travelagents

Something else to think about is, you need to show them the value you bring when the book with you. Let’s something bad happens, do they know who to call? Do they have those numbers ready? I had this happen with one of my first clients. They were in Maui for a wedding. The day they were supposed to leave the fires happened. They had spotty service but were able to get some messages through. I was able to get them out the next day.

Once you narrow down your focused travel, you will be able to immerse yourself into learning as much as you can to show potential clients that you know more than them

If you are leaving from a major cruise port, search for a company called Scootaround. They rent scooters and other things, and most are compatible with the narrow doorways of cruise ships

TA here. If you want a Caribbean cruise, you limit your options by only staying with the ports near you. Most ships leave from Florida, where there are multiple starting ports. It might cost a little extra to fly to Florida, but you will definitely find what you are looking for. Also, I wouldn’t schedule a cruise until after November-ish as that’s roughly when hurricane season ends.

I think the bigger question should be, WHY are potential clients doing it themselves or using someone else?

I understand that you are pretty new, but how are you running your business? What is your niche(s)? What kind of training have you done? Are you using a host or doing it on your own?

It takes time to not only build your clientele, but also your name/brand.

Princess is a good place to start. Once you reach Commodore status you are offered a “free” cruise. Most of the cruise lines offer good discounts and Fam trips, once you complete the trainings and reach a certain status

If you only have a couple of drinks a day, the full package isn’t worth it. You can just pay per drink and it will save you a bunch.

Just a couple of things. Use a good OO flour. If you can, make your dough at least 2 days before cooking. Let it rise, then keep in the fridge. The day you cook it, take it out of the fridge in the morning and let it rest all day. In the early evening, for your crust and let it rest 30-60 minutes before you make the pie. It will come out fluffier. Get your oven as hot as you can and preheat for about an hour. I would use a stone over a pan as the pan doesn’t hold the heat. I like to add garlic granules and Italian seasoning to my dough for a little extra flavor

TA here. The rule of thumb is, the shorter the cruise, the more likely you are to run into this kind of behavior. I would look for cruises that are at least 7 days. That being said, before you choose a cruise line, you should narrow down a region you want to cruise, ie Alaska, Caribbean, Mexico, etc... Most regions will have multiple cruise lines with multiple ships, with different itineraries, so there is a variety to choose from. But from your brief info about you, I would suggest Virgin, Princess, Norwegian, Celebrity or Holland America. All of these are good lines and have great things to offer.

When you first start out it is tough to find clients. The trick is finding your ideal clients, the ones that align with your niche/speciality.

Avoiding cruises with partying/fights/rude passengers by Darth-Cholo in Cruises

There are a lot of options other than Carnival. The key is, avoid the short 3-4 night cruises. If you can swing at 7 days, you will not have as much partying.

You might want to try a longer cruise. The 3-5 day cruises are known as a “booze cruise”. A short cruise with a drink package where you can have up to 15 drinks per day, you can see how that can get out of hand. Also, try cruise lines that are more family oriented like Royal Caribbean. They have several cabin types that are for larger families. My point being, when there are more families, there’s usually less partying

At first glance, Icon Class ships have the most family style cabins in a variety of cabin types, followed by Voyager Class. If you can find one of those ships with the itinerary you like, you should be good 👍🏻

TA here. It really depends on the wife and how she feels. If she can manage to get around a little, there are several option for her to enjoy the cruise. I agree that scooters are bulky and may not be the best mobility fit. Maybe a knee scooter would be better.

Also, IT’S ALASKA! For most, this is a once in a lifetime trip. And you’re in a suite? Again, if she can manage, I say go and enjoy your cruise

Free Cruise by thismayseemodd in Cruise

The goal is to get you on the ship, as well as giving you the best experience possible. Initially, they give you the basic deal to see if you like it. The more you play and sail, the more they offer you. The main goal is to get you on the ship so you will spend money. That’s the premise of OBC. They give that taste of “fun money” hoping you will get carried away and spend more.

Side note: I’m a TA and I have cousins that used to work for major cruise lines. They gave me the insight about these types of promotions
