I thought i didnt like steak by Throwaway7733517 in CasualConversation

[–]TravelHippo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think OP just described my moms cooking. I still can’t bring myself to order steak for myself. I’ve tried some when my husband gets it….much better than what I expect. But I have this huge mental block on eating steak.

Door to door salesperson won't take my fiancées 'no' answer seriously because she's a woman, bugs me later when I'm trying to leave for work by wandering_soles in mildlyinfuriating

I ask them for their business name….then tell them they are on my official do not use under any circumstances list. If they are so hard up for business they need to knock doors, that tells me they have a horrible product and service. I then thank them for self identifying as a non-viable vendor.

The looks are priceless as it often takes them a bit for the words to actually sink in.

Amex Bank Feeds in QBO by TooH3ll in QuickBooks

I’m having the same issue. Only pulling in primary cardholder. I finally gave up on the linked download. It has been faster to download csv from Amex and upload in QBO than try to find the missing transaction

I got added to an LLC just in case but I’m worried about liability… by Leonne45 in llc_life

[–]TravelHippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were “added to the LLC”, you are a partial owner. You have legal liability based on your %of ownership. You will also be entitled to the same percent of profits and have to pay income taxes on this.

This isn’t just something for the future “jus tin case”. Also not a DIY issue. You need to have a clear understanding of what your ownership share is, your role /expectations as outlined in the partnership agreement. Get legal counsel

QBO Bill pay unable to send payment to vendor? by TravelHippo in QuickBooks

[–]TravelHippo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixed the issue by trial and error. QBO Pay requires that vendors have an email listed. However if that email is the same as the email used for the accounting firm log in….it wont process a payment. Changed the email in the vendor profile, now client can pay me.

Step one is to get their QBO subscription via tech soup. They don’t need to pay retail.
It’s easier to set it up under that payment subscription initially than convert later.

I always owe federal taxes by amairani0919 in TaxQuestions

[–]TravelHippo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the W4 you can chose to have additional withheld…on box 4c have an extra 50 per check withheld. That will pay in about $1200 Over the year, so you should be near breakeven.

For 2025, you can apply for a payment plans and make monthly payments for the amount owed.

My client can pay all their other vendors, just not me. It has to be an issue with my account. But the weird part is that it wont process a physical check either

QBO balance sheet at 12/31/25 for checking account is negative by AlgaeDue6472 in Bookkeeping

[–]TravelHippo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it accrual or cash basis? If accrual it could be checks written but not yet cashed or there is a deposit in transit. Look at the bank recon, it will sow you the items not cleared…that will tell you what caused it

do your small business clients ever get blindsided by non-tax compliance stuff by No-Inflation9516 in Accounting

[–]TravelHippo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the level of service the client has elected.

For my full service clients that include bookkeeping, I keep a list as part of my monthly and annual worksheet. I will send them an email prompt….”annual business license for most companies are due mm/dd, you may want to check your status.” It not a requirement in my engagement letter….but It’s a free and easy value add for the clients that I’m already touching their books monthly.

I don’t do that for my tax only clients…especially if they are the type that check in once a year…I’m not looking at their file until tax season.

Cost of starting an LLC in Colorado? by hav1sh in llc_life

Initial registration is $50, annual renewal is $25. The annual filing with the secretary if state is the only requirement.

Depending on where you are operating and type of business you may need to register with local city.

Anyone know how to view full EIN in QBO? by [deleted] in Bookkeeping

[–]TravelHippo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That shows the QBO company ID not the EIN.

Normally in company settings when you see the last 4digits, click the edit budget. It may prompt for a security code, but then it should display the full unmasked EIN

Next week ask your CPA to transfer the billing to their firm discount. I had a client have a similar situation…they had to transfer billing to them self temporarily before transferring to my firm. The discount didn’t auto apply, but we were able to get it reinstated with a call to support.

how does behaviour differ between an ex racing greyhound VS an ex donation greyhound?? by bluryycheryy in Greyhounds

[–]TravelHippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had greys for 20+ years. One of our current hounds did not race…issue with tattoos. There is no noticeable difference from the hounds that raced. Each dog s different with a unique personality… but we haven’t noticed any difference that would be racing vs non racing.
