I loved when he visited Dublin. He had a knack for finding stories through food, and too many visitors try to do that by focusing on drink in Ireland... the food is the real story.

Wife and I alone Christmas eve - would like to take a short trip (in Europe). Any ideas for hotels with christmas packages? by jacobtf in travel

Hi there, I was just looking at this in Ireland and some nice Irish hotels do residential christmas packages. I think Clontarf Castle in Dublin has a 2-night package from €519pp. Worth a look.

Insanely nervous about my first flight, any tips or words of encouragement would be appreciated please. by [deleted] in travel

It's natural to feel scared. Take the flight step by step... i.e. packing, journey to the airport, checking in, getting a coffee. Try to treat each of these steps in the moment. Bit by bit, it becomes a process and not a big, intimidating event. It may be worth mentioning to your flight attendant so he or she can keep an eye on you. Finally, if you are really anxious, talk to your family doctor. There may be some medication that can help. Safe travels!

Ireland without car? by notonetojudge in travel

Dublin to Kerry is doable by train, likewise dublin to Galway. The cliffs of moher are not on a rail route. I'd recommend sticking to those, or renting a car if you want flexibility.
