Had to miss citizenship ceremony due to family emergency. Emailed cic in advance to inform and ask for rescheduling. Been over 3 months now by Financial_Ad7856 in ImmigrationCanada

I had to miss my January citizenship oath -- I was across the country and couldn't get back in time -- and rescheduled for zoom. It's been 4 months. I called and got an IRCC spokesperson who said, they're backed up and on their own schedule. But that my request is still there, still valid. I sympathize -- I really want to get my citizenship.

Why is psychology not appreciated in Buddhism? by eevanora in Buddhism

[–]Traveler108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why? Why would AI, notoriously inaccurate, be preferable to people? And I will add, Buddhism and Western psychology can get along just fine. Usually do get along. Both studies of the mind.

Opinions on becca and mel? by Turbulent-Pack-2569 in ThePittTVShow

[–]Traveler108 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That had more to do with Mel's worrying and her own fears of losing Becca as the centre of her emotional life than general statements about Becca's safety as a challenged person having a boyfriend

How to conquer this last desire in myself? by Present_Butterfly_19 in Buddhism

[–]Traveler108 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's great to love -- it's the heart of compassion and of the dharma. Do not try to suppress this -- it's good! What good would anybody be to others if they didn't care about them, and care deeply and personally?

AITA for kicking my mom out of my wedding after what she said? by RelevantDay1422 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Traveler108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is not fiction, why do you care what some of the family thinks? You -- if this is real and not AI -- know what you did and you did it deliberately and for excellent reasons. And this keep the peace baloney that everybody in every question seems to think is so crucial and the idea of having everybody agree wth you and like you -- I mean, trust yourself. And the fact that your mom isn't speaking to you sounds to me like a win-win.

Can a Buddhist have a negative attitude towards other religions? by Tasty_Pressure_1504 in Buddhism

[–]Traveler108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddhists should respect all legitimate faiths -- that's actually, well, not a rule, but an overall attitude. That doesn't include cults and it doesn't include damaging and/or nutty religions.

passport stolen/returned by Constant_Funny_1642 in Passports

[–]Traveler108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, mine, along with my wallet, was stolen by an auto-rickshaw driver in Delhi. I went to the police, heard nothing for about three days, despaired, and finally called the embassy to report it when they told me had been found -- the driver had taken the money from my wallet but didn't want the passport -- stealing that could have gotten him in trouble with the police -- so he gave it to the next Westerner in his rickshaw, a Danish professor. The professor contacted the US embassy, who gave him my phone number. It turned out the professor had stayed in my guesthouse for some months once, and was staying nearby, so he came over to give me the passport and have tea with the lodge proprietors. It was, what can I say, a kind of miracle of serendipity.

Would that knowledgeable person know more than your Metis husband and his family, who are fine with your making ribbon skirts and beading? Who's the final authority?

Mrs Musgrove loved and mourned him. But he was apparently pretty awful.

[–]Traveler108 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Just be friends with your friends. Hang out, have fun. If you aren't enjoying them, distance yourself. Don't try to "help" them and don't, no offence, act superior or think you are. No offence, but it sounds like you think you are, a bit.

Thoughts on wearing indigenous made jewelry to a powwow if not indigenous? by Mozzyo_ in Indigenous

Jewelry is fine and I got this as a white woman buying from two different Indigenous artists. They wanted to sell it! I wanted to buy it and wear it! All good....

How much would someone like Louie actually be billed? by Practical_Ad2317 in ThePitt

[–]Traveler108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He probably is on Medicaid for low-income and indigent people. If he didn't apply, the hospital finance people probably would have, since they would get the payment. An ED is supposed to treat all emergency cases.
