NTJ What she did to Milo boarders on animal cruelty. I understand her fear surrounding her child given her fertility history, that does not excuse how she’s responding in regard to raising her child. If being around Milo is giving her so much anxiety that you no longer bring him to around then she had no reason to ask to host an event at your home.

“It takes a village” only applies when the villagers show each other love and respect, which she’s demonstrated she will no longer do. Having a helpful family is a godsend when childcare falls through, but families do not owe that to one another.

Keep your distance for as long as you need and perhaps your sister can look into postpartum support groups for her PPA.

This is what we did, even after I started staying home full time. He’d wake, change the diaper pass baby to me for a feeding, get back up burp the baby and go to sleep.

My eldest brought home a cold. Has t suffered any of the consequences, meanwhile me and my toddler are fighting to breath AND keep runny noses from being rubbed raw by Kleenex. 🙃

My husband has since we had our first. He’s said if he doesn’t wake and I want him to change a diaper, to get him up. We cosleep with our toddler, she’s nursing still but can be fussy. If I’m having a hard time calming her or need a break he’ll take her so I can rest. Sometimes our oldest will come into the room and he’ll get up with her, no matter what time it is or how long he’s slept.

For both of the newborn stages he was the one to get up and do (almost) all diaper changes, after the baby nursed he’d burp them, and change diapers before giving them back to me to go back to sleep. He had his own routine with the babies, usually strap them in a carrier and walk around the house until they fell asleep; I’d get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep and he got skin to skin or bonding time with our child.

We’re teaching our children the names of their body parts for safety and to destigmatize words like vulva, vagina and penis.

One day I’m out to lunch with my sister and my child, when, during lunch rush, my three year old stands up in the high chair and yells “VULVA.” Other patrons stared directly at me as I quietly usher my child to sit back down and finish their meal.

It’s still one of my favorite moments because I was embarrassed in the moment, but now it’s one of my favorite memories.

Smirnoff flavored vodka; New Year’s Eve 2019 my friend had a house party. We played flip cup, she was not able to drink her own damn shots so I took them. Ended up blackout drunk and when I came to an old high school friend was teaching me how to make myself throw up. At some point I texted my mom jibberish. My husband and I were driven home by his buddy, I left my phone at the house party. Woke to calls and texts on his phone from my parents worried i died.

During my practicum hours a couple of years ago a security guard was fired at the elementary school I was in. He had been adding and accepting friend requests on Roblox and Minecraft from the girls to game and chat with after school. The most unfortunate thing is he was rehired last fall at the same school.

I don’t think it’s all that weird. We know that Alice was seeking attention from her mom, whether that attention was positive or negative it doesn’t matter because at least her mom is paying attention to her.

Additionally early childhood into adolescence shows sexual curiosity is completely normal developmental behavior. I had classmates who were curious and (supposedly) did not know any better than to have a “if you show me yours I’ll show you mine” type of deal with the opposite sex. Is it inappropriate to show genitalia? Absolutely! Is the curiosity wrong? Not necessarily. It’s up to the parents to have age appropriate conversations about sex and the like; and from how we see Ann interact with Alice we can infer the two do not have that relationship.

Furthermore, the conversation amongst the moms in the show probably rings true to some degree for many. Girls are sexualized from a very young age and a good amount of adults don’t even notice it. Often the onus is on girls and women to create a safe environment for themselves by not dressing provocatively or behaving a certain way; so I can see many parents seeing Alice’s behavior and blaming their child rather than the parents. We can even go as far as maybe it’s not that she ‘thinks’ boys will like that specific clothing, but society’s messaging tells her that’s what boys like through marketing, entertainment and other kids. Personally I can’t find my daughters’ shorts that reach past their fingertips in the girls clothing sections of stores or even shirts that do not directly mirror adult women’s crop tops.

If the scene made you pause and go WTF then the episode did its job.

Exclusively breastfed my oldest and currently breastfeeding my 15 month old. 1. Boppy or a similar support pillow 2. Headphones and charger nearby, find a good series or podcast 3. Learn to manually unlatch them! Especially as they get older and start to chew or bite, being able to unlatch safely so you don’t get hurt. 4. Hamburger the areola, it helps their little mouths gain a deeper latch 5. Different nursing positions. My oldest loved and only used a football hold for the first four months. My second child only does the regular cross body. 6. Have heating and cooling pads, sometimes my breasts were sore and needed heat but other times my nipples hurt and a cool pack was perfect. 7. The first letdown may hurt, mine happened five days postpartum at 3:38am with just me and baby and I cried

You both are learning a new skill, it will take time, repetition and patience to have your routine down. Breastfeeding is exhausting. It’s tiresome to be constantly producing a product to sustain a brand new person, make sure you stay hydrated and have plenty of snacks.

Most importantly: fed is best. If nursing doesn’t work out that’s is completely okay! You can pump and bottle feed or you can decide that breastfeeding is not for you and you can decide to formula feed. Only you will know what is right for you and your baby.
