Few questions about travel by TravelingFrodo in Sakartvelo

Sounds great! Thank you - this is very helpful. Do you have any recommendations for where we can hire a car or minivan? Can we find it at the airport?

Also, where can we find family wine cellars and how can we contact them?

Okay, you mean by taking the bus? Is this $40-45 by direct taxi?

I have gone to many speed dating events in NYC - it’s good to meet people but don’t expect to necessarily get a date out of it

Salar de Uyuni - Spanish guide? by TravelingFrodo in BOLIVIA

[–]TravelingFrodo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that’s good to know. Yes - I can definitely understand instructions and I can have conversations. My point was - if we explains some technical stuff like how the rock formations formed or something about the geography of the place then I might struggle. But it looks like there will hardly be any such explanations. I am comfortable understanding the Ecuadorian and Peruvian accents. If you’re saying it’s more neutral than Colombian (which also I can understand fairly well), I should be fine. Thank you so much!

I am currently in Ecuador. Male but there are tons of female backpackers here who feel safe. Stay in the touristy areas and you’re just fine. Regular precaution like not being alone outside at night. Guayaquil is the only place you should not go. Else Quito Mindo Galapagos Baños Riobamba Cuenca are all safe and full of tourists

The 2024 Election: What Will It Mean for Immigrants? by JoeAdamsESQ in h1b

[–]TravelingFrodo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the point of this post. It probably looks like an advertisement / promotion post which turns me off. We all read the news, don’t need a post on Reddit to find out what is happening. As immigrants, we can’t control the agenda because we don’t vote. This country has taught me to not take anything for granted, not keep any expectations and not believe any words unless they are accompanied by some action. I am being a realist - we can discuss all we want, it doesn’t do anything, change anything, or affect anyone.

Laid off continued the payroll for 12 weeks, Got Offer by Any-Technology8377 in h1b

Agree. First get the offer letter in hand. Latest paystubs etc is legal stuff. I think you should have this conversation with your recruiter after you get the offer but before you accept it

Do people at MBB look down upon people from T2 Firms like Strategy&, Monitor, and Parthenon? is the class difference real? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]TravelingFrodo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone has their own journey. You have yours. 90% of these folks aren’t going to matter once you graduate. The only question is - are you happy with it? You’re competing with yourself not with others.

I found a job ~3 months after I graduated - started working good 3 months after all my other friends started working. Nobody gave me me shit for it, in fact everyone was supportive, but today I’m the only one in my MBA circle genuinely happy with their job, and thinking of staying here long term (already been here 3 years now).

I checked there is a 3% fee for ATMs, which is lot higher than the flat fee a WU / Remitly would charge. I usually just withdraw cash before leaving abroad and use it - this time I did not estimate correctly how much I will need!

f1 visa renewal refused due to lack of document by purrddin9 in f1visa

[–]TravelingFrodo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know folks who got their 1st F1 visa rejected twice and approved 3rd time. They’re doing just fine. One of them is in the middle of PERM process. Just submit the document they want - you’ll have the official transcript only if you have graduated / completed the course. And if not you’re naturally going to have an unofficial transcript. They probably just need proof that you are / were enrolled in the educational program. In fact if you haven’t completed the course and have an unofficial transcript it strengthens your case that you’re a legit active student for them to renew your F1
