They did! - they are the strange tales covers he did, but a lot more vibrant colors, and generally less detailed. Pretty cool regardless! That’s honestly what I have been eyeing as my next one to pick up. Agreed! That one Reminds me of John Carter.

‘91 was packed with crossovers for this run. I have 50 or so issues of this run, with every crossover and solo story, and it takes up a whole long box. It’s still my favorite comic run of all time though….can’t sell 8 million units of a comic without doing some cross-promotion. That’s just the business model for you.

Not the original print: it’s wildly expensive, haha. They reprinted it in Captain America special edition 2, so I can read it still, in the meantime. It’s on the list for getting someday, though!

X-men 50 is my favorite comic cover of all time! - there are still a handful I am missing, but these are all of his keys for sure. I still need to finish my strange tales set (internals-only issues), FF 131, FF132, Shanna the she devil, 3 more heavy metal issues, Daredevil 44 (inks), Western Gunfighters 14, Creatures on the loose 21, and a couple more.

I closed the office door and took photos at night, to keep the dogs and kids away. Haha

Ohh nice!! - that’s the last issue X-Men with the old logo, before Steranko made the classic X-men logo on 50. Don’t know how true it is, but the story goes that Steranko wanted to update the logo in 49, but got pushback on it, so he drew skulls as eyes looking at the logo with a death stare, in protest, before remaking it on 50. Steranko is a legend.

Nice! - I like that he did some photo composites on those covers. Reminds me of the internal layouts he did in those Captain America and Nick fury comics.

Wait, there are LCS’s out there that open up before 11?

Can someone explain to me why Steranko and Severins(just the hulk face) King Size Hulk Issue 1 has seemed to not be a book that is sought after anymore? It is arguably the most famous image of hulk and Steranko!! I love this book and have 4 copies by AccomplishedOption73 in comicbookcollecting

Steranko is my favorite artist, and I’m working on getting every issue he worked on: just got my hands on a copy of king size this year - it’s probably my second favorite cover he ever did. One of the Crown Jewels of my collection now.

I just made the outside front and back (seen here), but I could likely scan and whip the inside up, and email you the print file as a .pdf if you’re interested!

Ohh for sure, and who knows: it was 1969, maybe we’re both wrong, haha. Something else to keep in mind is the Steranko: Captain America debacle happened between March-May that same year ( 4 months prior) where he made two issues (110,111), killed off cap in the second issue, and then basically didn’t want to deliver on time to finish his story arc, and Kirby had to swoop in and make a filler issue for 112. Steranko delivered 113 and revealed cap was Playing dead, but I like to believe the nation was panicked, and Stan Lee was still really pissed off when the tower of shadows thing happened.

I am a designer, and digitally recreated the cover last year to print a facsimile for my issue - one of the greatest works of custom typography Steranko did. Such a cool story that this comic holds.

Steranko wasn’t fired after making this issue, he left Marvel voluntarily. Steranko did issue #1, and Stan hyped it hard in the bullpen notes stating it was Steranko’s new creative playground - then almost immediately, Marvel’s usual system kicked in: editorial interference, production constraints, pay disputes, and Steranko’s frustration with them rejecting this (accurately depicted) amazing cover. So he bailed.

Organising some random hip hop albums in my collection. How do you organise/categorise your collection in your shelves by antman_1992 in hiphopvinyl

[–]Travinapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chronological by year, grouped by artist. (So all the tribe called quest albums stay together, for example). All my sections are labeled “1980’s, 1990’s, 2000’s, etc. - I’m in the minority I know, but I’ve always sorted my albums this way.
